Lake Gogebic Trail Report – 12/23

The weather continues to improve our trails with more snow everyday and perfect temperatures (single digits to teens during the daytime and single digits at night). And more of the same expected through the next week or so! Groomers are running on all trails and started covering the access trails to the businesses today. Even with the very cold temps the groomers have broken through some wet areas so be watchful of these spots. Remember please, there will be lots of families out on the trails during this holiday period, some will be inexperienced. So please ride only to the right of the trail, use slower speeds and keep your eyes opened for young riders.

I’m still going to remind you all to – please – give the groomers the right of way. It’s much more difficult to pull a stuck groomer out than it is to pull a snowmobile out and they can’t just drive through anything as might be believed. And, of course, please stay on marked trails. Riding in unmarked areas can result in; 1) losing a granted easement, 2) getting a ticket and/or 3) hitting an object hidden in the snow, none of which we want to see happen.

***Also be mindful that a bridge on trail 8, just east of Bergland is out and it is marked. The trail will be rerouted over the dam at the north end of the lake where the trail was a couple years ago.

We’re happy to mention that the old “Mobil” gas station has reopened once again. The new owners have renamed it the “Lake Gogebic Outpost”

That’s all for now from Carolyn at the Hoop. I will keep you posted as often as conditions change. For additional information about the Lake Gogebic area we invite you to visit the only official website of the Lake Gogebic Area Chamber of Commerce at www.LakeGogebicArea.com or call us at 1-888-464-3242 (888-GOGEBIC). Looking forward to seeing you all up again soon!

Traverse City Trail Report – Blue Sky Snowmobile Rentals – 12/23

First Guided tour of the season! The trails are perfect and the snow is getting deep! Come see us today!

Wow, Wow, Wow!!! We have gotten almost a foot of snow since Saturday. We had a full loop guided tour this morning and the snow was amazing. This is definitely shaping up to be a great start to the season. The groomers are out making the trails perfect for the holidays. The trails are going to be very busy over the next couple of weeks so please use caution out there.

Great news… Blue Sky is offering the new E-tec 600 Grand Touring. These are awesome machines with more power, better fuel efficiency, and more features than the 600 touring. We are booking out fast for the next couple of weeks but still have four and eight hour rentals available.

Be safe and have a Merry Christmas

Jamie
