This is the Keweenaw trail system report for Thursday, February 5, 2015.

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open. The groomers are out and the trails are in good to very good condition.

Trail 122 to Gay is closed for logging until further notice. Alternate routes to Gay are trails 124 and 133.

Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails, they have the right of way!!

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

Gaylord Area Trail Report – Ray’s Retreat Country Inn – 02/04

No Complaints! … We have had several rooms in during this week enjoying great rides!

We got a fresh inch/two of snow today. Enough to just freshen things up a bit. Groomers have been doing a great job.

Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow.

We may not have the two foot of snow we did last year at this time. The trail is actually better because of it. The more snow, the easier it is for all the wild young ones to tear it up and make the big ‘whoops’ in the snow. Its been very cold at night so the trail stays firm and smooth when groomers have been thru.

Its time for winter fun! Hope you can get a chance to come up.
