Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/08

There is snow everywhere this morning…even on the White Pine Trail and Cadillac West trail. Just received a report from the LeRoy area saying they received 8 inches in the last 24 hours and the Boon Store is reporting 8 inches as well.

All trails have been upgraded to EXCELLENT. Just beware there is an ICE base everywhere and it is likely to show up first in the curves.

Our groomers are all out there running their regular routes–see Equiptment. The JD7400 is substituting for the JD8120 that was taken out of service yesterday because of a flat tire. The 7920 should be back on the trail having recovered from recent transmission problems. These repairs are inconvenient and expensive but thanks to your trail permit dollars local grooming organizations like our don’t bare these costs alone.

Snow accumulation: 15-24 inches

REMEMBER there are fewer signs in the woods this winter so when you finally do get a chance to ride, take your time and enjoy the ride. The need for speed may be costly to you and to others. Assume every trail is a winding trail and be ready for the next curve.

A reminder to those who enjoy riding the White Pine Trail, State Park officials have asked snowmobilers to ‘refrain from operating snowmobiles when less than four inches of snow cover the trail.’

Cadillac Area Trail Report – 02/07

The trails west of town are amazing. We’d like to say they are excellent but the ice base keeps us from doing so. There is lots of snow–both north and south of M-55 and it is so beautiful with no sign of snirt. The White Pine Trail and Cadillac West trail don’t have enough snow to groom at this pont. The White Pine has a thick covering of ice under the snow and is rideable. If the forecast is correct, those conditions should change by morning. Ironically, The White Pine Trail and Cadillac West trail are expected to get more snow (8’+ ) in the next 24 hours and the trails west of town are predicted to get 4-8 inches.

We’ve had mechanical problems with two groomers with week but fortunately we have backup equipment out there filling in. So if you have seen some different l tractors out there this week, you know why. Hopefully, our regular units will be back out there soon.

Snow accumulation: 9 -15 inches
