Looks like more of the same with temps in the teens and snow showers in the forecast for the next few days. Temps for the weekend will be in the 20’s with lows in the single digits. We received 2.5 inches of snow yesterday so we will take every little bit we get. Few snow showers in the air today.
The Gogebic Range Trail Authority reports: Not much to report, trail 2, 8 and 160 have been groomed. Watch for icy spots and wet spots. Use caution on 160 there is a swamp which is not frozen so be careful….Trails 11s and 11n are not groomed we need more snow before groomers will go out to groom these trails. It is still early season riding we need more snow to get the trails in great shape. Be Patient!!!
The Lake Gogebic groomers are out and reporting all trails are rolled expect some wet spots and early riding conditions. More snow is needed to get the trails in great shape.
The Watersmeet groomers have not gone out yet they need more snow.
All areas need more snow….keep in mind groomers can be out day or night so watch out for them and please pull over or slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by.

Bitter cold today with temps warming up for the rest of the week with high in the teens and lows in the single digits. We received 6.5 inches of new snow in the Ironwood area with about 12 inches in the Lake Gogebic area and Watersmeet finally got about 5 inches in the last few days. Snow showers are in the forecast for the next week.
The Gogebic Range Trail Authority report the groomers are out. They are back on the regular grooming schedule so we should have a better report tomorrow. Trail 2 & 8 are groomed. Trail 160 is being groomed today. Expect icy conditions. All wet areas are now frozen. Conditions are still poor to fair. Trail 11N and 11S still have not been groomed. Please use caution trails are icy.
The Lake Gogebic groomers report: They have received approximately a foot new snow with snow in the forecast for the next week. Temps for the most part will be very cold. Groomers are out working to get the trails in shape. Here is a warning from Lake Gogebic Area.
WARNING: Although as a rule, we never comment about riding on Lake Gogebic itself, as the DNR (the sponsor of our grant money) does not recognize trails over open water – thus there are no trail markings on the lake. However, we’re experiencing a first ever problem on the lake that we want to make sure we inform our riders about for their safety. We have reports of two large holes of open water between the Hoop ‘N Holler Tavern (at the northwest corner of the lake) and Fishtales Resort (approx. 6 miles south of the Hoop on the west shore). There are reports, also, of ice heaves near these spots. Please use caution and ride slow enough to see far ahead of you. These conditions could change rapidly so please use caution.
The Watersmeet groomers still have not gone out. They did get about 5 inches of new snow but I still do not have an official report on the trails.
All areas need more snow….keep in mind groomers can be out day or night so watch out for them and please pull over or slow down and wait for the operator to signal you by.
Please be careful on corners as you know several Michigan Trail signs have been discontinued. These signs are posted on our trail map. PLEASE BE SAFE!!!!
