Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/28

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 1/28

It’s a crisp and cold this morning in downtown Frederic at about 14 degrees. It snowed most of the day on thursday and that gave us about 4 inches of new snow in Frederic but only about 2 inches in Grayling. The reports on trail 7 to Frederic from where it splits at 47 on yesterday and this morning is that it is pretty rough. On the other hand the trail 47 to Lovells was in good shape. Hopefully there will be some groomer action on that. The snow yesterday was a welcome sight. There have been 5 sleds into the shop here this morning but so far to me it seems pretty quiet and slow out there. I checked the grayling motels and Days Inn & Ramada both only had one trailer each at them. Not what we should be seeing for the end of January. My gut feeling is there will be a fair amount of riders out and about as this weekend will be just about last weekend. Wish I had better things to say. Pic below is Dave and his group in here this morning. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/27

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 1/27

There is light snow in the air in downtown Frederic on thursday about 11 a.m. Supposed to get a little snow so this coming weekend of riding will be about the same as last weekend. Riders are still out there and you just have to deal with what we have if you want to get a ride in. I had full intentions of going for a little ride yesterday but the day got away from me and I never made it. Today makes six weeks since my knee replacement surgery so I wanted to just try an easy ride and see how it went. I guess it will be next week now. I sat on my sled and it felt pretty good, I just need to be careful. The Darkside Advnenture ride seems to be going good now, they made it out of New Hampshire and are up into Maine now and it looks like the North East where they are at is going to get blasted. If you havent checked out there blog I will put a link to it but if you click on their tab that says track us you can see exactly where they are at which is a pretty cool feature. I just wish some year I could ride with them. Darkside Adventures Blog Pic below is from their page from yesterday. Thanks for checking in. Pete
