FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 2/27
It’s sunday morning at Lake Margrethe, About 25 degrees out. Sled traffic was slow saturday but riders were pretty happy with what they were encountering with both good and bad areas. Jack Stevens was in first thing and put a new set of carbides on his sled and a couple hours later he called me and he had made it up to the bridge saying it was a decent ride. Clifford sent in pics from his ride in the u.p. in Moran saying it was really good and that I should get up there. I wish I could make it but I do think I am going to ride around Frederic today.
Someone turned in a tool kit found on I belive on trail 7 near Frederic so if you are missing one give me a call. Also a guy called me and he had his sled stolen from the Hide Away at Starvation Lake Friday nite. Picture of it is below, 2018 850 Renegade X. The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey
