Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/10

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/10

Finally a SNOW DAY, About 5 to 6 inches of snow. We really didnt get that much overnight as most of it came yesterday afternoon. We have to start somewhere. I have been plowing most of the morning and it is 9:30 on wednesday morning. If you were out there to ride right now I think it would be decent. Roads in Grayling were all very wet this morning. Roads north of the high school to Frederic are nice and snow covered. Weather looks like it should hold thru the weekend but what we do have will get worn quickly. Temps are supposed to start dropping below 20s so that is good. I ran up to Gaylord yesterday to get a pipe put on my plow and I saw 2 sleds riding north and 2 riding south on that little trip. I missed a Ring call from my door from 2 riders while I was gone. I didnt hear the ding but here is a pic of one of the guys. I am sure those are the two I saw riding north. So maybe we can finally get this season off and running. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/09

No snow overnight… It’s starting to snow this morning…

Dont get to excited yet. I woke up this morning expecting to look out and see lots of snow. Instead there were still little critter tracks from yesterday morning across my front porch. That translates to no new snow since yesterday. Many schools south of Grayling were closed today.

They are still calling for 3 to 6 inches for later today which will be nice. I did drive my plow truck to Frederic today but so far just some light snow in the air. It sure seems like with the weather reports that are out there that we will finally start building a base but it is still only 32 degrees right now.

Thanks for checking in and keep up the snow chants. Pete
