Happy New Years Eve Day to all of us with another 3 to 7 inches of snow overnight to us.
I had about 3 to 4 inches of nice system snow at my house in grayling this morning and about 7 inches up here in Frederic which seemed more like lake effect.
Still that’s almost a foot in two days. Riders were out full force yesterday and I expect today will be busier. I left home at 6 this morning to start plowing. Just finished up outside here at sledheads a bit ago. I made it here about 7:30 and took a pic out front just as it was getting daylight as I thought it looked pretty good out there with all my lights on. Plowing my storarge units is what takes all the time, darn that’s a lot of snow to move.
With all the new readers I have picked up on here the past couple weeks here is a message to all of you. I have fenced secure outdoor trailer parking just a half mile south of Sledheads if you don’t want to haul your trailer back and forth everyweek.
There are already three trucks and trailers in my back lot in my park and ride section. I stayed here till 9 last night as sleds kept riding thru. Not sure how late I will stay tonight but if they keep coming in I will stay. Will open at ten on sunday morning just in case I can make it till midnite tonite. So ride safely and thanks for checking in. Pete — http://frederic-mi.com/happy-new-years-eve-day-with-fresh-snow/

6 new inches of fluffy lake effect over night here in Frederic, sure makes it look good but remember its still icy underneath. 13 trailers at the Ramada this morning and still only 1 at days inn.
It’s 24 degrees out and still snowing. I think its going to be a busy weekend as the phone has been ringing steady. Sled traffic is fair with quite a few riders in here already this morning.
I left home at 6:30 to do my plowing. Thank goodness this week was a good time to be getting the plow fixed. Turns out the main cable to the motor wore thru and that’s why the plow didn’t work. Heard from Patti up in the U.P. at the Clark Motel in Strongs and she said they had a foot of new snow overnight. Remember if you are heading for the u.p. to go see Patti and Andy as their motel is a great place to stay. I have riders coming to my rental cottage to for this weekend but if any of you want to come up and stay look it up at the top of this page under Wayside Inn Cottage or on facebook. I heard from a guy two days ago that had his F 1000 (2007) off of Kenyon Trail up near waters. They had hit a tree and went to get their truck and by the time they got back it was gone. If you see or know of a cat f 1000 getting parted out let me know.
Also heard from Karl from Jordan Valley and his note is below here.
My name is Karl I’m the Vice President of the Jordan Valley Trails Council. I was told by a few people to get in touch with you as you keep up really well on the trails over in your neck of the woods. As I’m sure you’ve heard Gaylord is down a groomer since winter started and as of last week I worked out a deal with the DNR that we would attempt to maintain their end of Trail 4 until their machine gets back. I sent a guy out in the groomer early early Friday am who worked for 15 hours to get Trail 4 into rideable condition all except for the hills on Mancelona Road.
We’ve now groomed it twice so people should find it in WAY better condition than it was in the beginning of the year. Granted we lost a ton of snow and until they get a machine back we will do our best to keep up on their section of trails as well as the 80+ miles we maintain. If you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to contact me, but thought you could be a good avenue to let people know what’s going on.
Thank you!
Karl Davenport
JVTC Vice President and Trail Master, Pisten Bully Groomer (Mancelona)
