Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 03/11

It’s a sunny and 27 degree sunday morning with the new time change in effect. Just had the first people stop in on their way home from Gaylord. Hopefully some people will stop in on their way home from the u.p. as I will be here till 4 today. Sled traffic was quiet around town yesterday but there were some out and about. Same old story of better snow north and west and more traffic too.

The Hide Away at Starvation Lake had their Appreciation Party last night and I know a lot of people were going to that.

The Veterans ride up in Seney had 270 riders in it yesterday. It seems each year there about 300 riders in it. Trail crossings along m 93 and just north of the high school this morning are surprisingly white and still covered (but not by much). Pretty amazing considering last sunday was all grass and dirt out there. Still 20 days of the season so who know what will happen. I came across a picture yesterday from April 11, 2016 where I was out for a ride after a big storm. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 03/08

This is it. As good as it will probably get for the remainder of this dismal riding season. I just got my sled out and rode around the building, Not showing any dirt. (yet) Only another couple inches of new snow since yesterday even though we were under winter weather advisory. Currently 10 a.m. and 30 degrees. I had several calls from people wondering if they should come up and ride yesterday. Well I don’t recommend it I still think some will come out.

A guy just stopped in and is on his way back from the u.p. Like I said a couple weeks ago that if there was going to be anymore riding this season it would only be for a day or two and the first ones out in the snow will be the lucky ones.

The couple that headed out the other day was back after 7 miles. I am going for two tracks and Chubby Roger is on his way down here to go with me. I am going to put a sign up in the door that says back in a couple hours. I will see if we can get more than 7 miles in. I figure what the heck, I have worn duallys on my skis and they are already well worn and I have more slides here so we are gonna try it. Chubby Roger and I haven’t got to ride together for to many years so here is our chance. Just took the pics out front here of my sled. Thanks for checking in. Pete.
