FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/16
Still no new snow. They keep saying a clipper and then scattered new snow but I still havent seen any accumulation. So still in the past week in Frederic hasnt had hardly enough snow for me to plow. I saw a few sleds around town yesterday. Just seems to be the same old story everyday. Pics below are the trail crossings north of the high school and out in my parking lot this morning. I also put my side by out there for sale. I hardly ever use it and it has a great boss plow on it. Forcasts calling for snow the first few days of next week so maybe it will add up. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Precip will gradually taper through the evening. Temperatures also climb above freezing through the overnight, remaining there until Thursday evening. The bad news is that gusty winds return late tonight into Thursday. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Additional icing across the area appears less likely today with only a glaze of ice possible for some areas. Snow will continue to spread across the area, leading to 1-2" of wet accumulations for many south of the bridge before switching over rain. Strong winds are expected today with gusts to 40+ mph, potentially leading to more down trees and limbs from recent icing. Does anyone have any information that would explain why Antrim County was excluded from the the governor’s State of Emergency? Are there any numbers showing ice accumulation for Antrim as compared to surrounding areas?

Did you know a 30ft diameter tree can weight up to 7,000 extra lbs with that amount of ice on it? Crazy.
