Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/16

Yee Hah, Its snowing. We have had about 3 new inches of snow over night and its still coming. Its a light fluffy snow but it is snow and at this stage of the game lets take what we can. This will be the first busy riding weekend of the season plus the fact its a long weekend thanks to MLK…….

Still reports of many water holes around and they are not to be taken lightly as some of them are huge and deep. Go around if you can.

One more death in the u.p. yesterday which puts the count up to 5 for the season. First two riders in this morning are here for a day trip from Sandusky Ohio, they parked out back in my park n ride and headed out. The Alabama boys were just in and made it up here from Demopolis Alabama. I think its about an 1100 mile drive. I have many trailers in down at my storage lot from Indiana and Ohio but I am pretty sure they will be the only one there from Alabama……

Riders have been pretty generous with their parking donations for my park n ride to my daughter Haleys fund raiser for her study abroad trip to Spain so she says a BIG THANK YOU. She is going to U of M and is a spanish major…….

The outlook goes good for the snow to keep falling. Thanks for checking in. Pete

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/15

Waiting for new snow. Looks like Frederic is on the line for tonights snow. We are at the 3 to 6 inch line which is also right where the 1 to 3 inch line is……you know what that means. All in well things look pretty good.

Sleds were light but out and about yesterday and the drizzly mist that we had didnt hurt anything. I still think its going to be the first real full weekend of riders coming north.

Today pics are from a fire that happened a couple days ago. Yesterday morning a friend called me and asked me if I knew anything about a burnt up sled but I hadnt heard anything then a while later I had a text from the mother of the girl that was riding the sled with her friend. This is another be careful of the water out there stories. A few days ago there was so much water where this happened at it looked like a flowing river. The girls rode thru what looked like a small part of it that was left and tipped over and then the sled caught on fire….Luckily they were both o.k.

The other pic I got last night from Maria who is spending the week out in Jackson Hole Wyoming where they have real snow. She was in here last week with her boyfriend and they were excited to be heading out there. She is showing off her new Sledheads shirt in real snow…….I need to get out there one of these days. Thanks for checking in and keep up the snow chants. We need it. Pete
