Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/19

Happy Birthday to me……the best birthday present ever, 6 to 8 inches of new lake effect snow here in frederic overnight, its about 10:30 now and I just came in from plowing, Have seen about ten sleds thru town this morning so far. Trouble with this lake effect is its only good for the lucky ones that get thru it first then it wears down fast but hey its the best we have had in a while.

I only had about a half inch of new lake effect at lake margrethe this morning so this was a pleasant surprise when I got here. Last night it showed Frederic on the edge of the winter weather advisory and they hit it right. So I think I may try a short spin but I have alot more snow to plow down at the storage lot. Pics below are from outside the shop here this morning. Also shout out to my daughter who also turns 28 today, she was the best birthday present a dad could ever have. I cant believe I am so old hitting 64 now and I like to say that my age is the same as my waist……I was fourty when I started this place…Boy time flies when your having fun.

Thanks for checking in. Pete

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/18

I have a dream……its MLK day and I have a dream that maybe we will get snow sometime this winter……

Weather is calling for a little lake effect each day this week, nothing came down last night and that may add up to a little fluff all week and then a predicted system snow next sunday…….I remember a few years ago when we never really got good rideable snow till Jan 28 and thats what its looking like again this year. There was an Indiana crew in here this morning and they said they had some decent riding down by houghton lake this past weekend except for the jeeps and side bys they ran into on the trail.

I had a call last night from Minnesota asking how the snow was here as they did not have good conditions there either. So lets hang on to what weve got and just be ready for when and if it does come down. pic below is the only group that stopped by here on sunday. Thanks for checking in. Pete
