FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 2/4 It’s a nice Sunny and minus 17 degrees at ten a.m.in beautiful downtown Frederic. The snow chants havent worked at all for us. Everything is rock hard and dirt. Still alot of snow in parts of the woods but the trails are pretty much dirt. The Darkside Adventures boys got rained out in New Hampshire for their last day of the fantastic ride that they had but now they I believe they are navigating their way across Vermont coping with the storm that is covering everywhere but northern michigan. The best thing I can think of about it being friday is that the Frederic Inn has prime rib tonight and tommorow night so that at least is something to look forward too.Pics below are from this morning. FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> Thursday 10 a.m. -- Well we lost more snow yesterday as it got up to 53 degrees, so far this morning only up to 36. Things still look suprisingly white. Saw sleds out and about yesterday and we went to Lovells to the Riverside for lunch. I didnt ride mysled but I drove out there. The pics below were a group of riders from Canton OHio with the flying tigers snowmoblile club. Heck the one guy was riding in shorts. They left their buddy Patrick back in Ohio and they said they were heading to the u.p. today to the Clarke Motel for a run up there. Still some riders out there, I see one unloading over at the swamp. Pic below is a guy I saw at the gas station yesterday afternoon and he told me he had a great ride from lakes of the north down to frederic, trail 4 to 7 . At least a few riders still holding out for the end. Trail crossings I looked at this morning still pretty nice and white. That ice underneath is saving things but with more warmth coming itwill be going away.Like I have said many times I have seen way worse conditions than this before. Thanks for checking in. The warmth will help melt and leave some lube for those that are adventureous enough to get a ride in. My sled is buried in the corner right now but I know I could get a good ride in if I was a bit more ambitious. Ground or should I say ice is still rock hard and it is now 33 degrees. I would think that once things start melting that if you were here you could still get in a ride. Trail crossings I looked at on the way up here are still pretty white. I looked at the sledview.com camera and it looks bright white with still no snirt and 12 inches showing on his depth guage.
