Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/05

Finally we had some snow last night I would say 6 to 8 inches, its not a wet heavy snow like was predicted but still a decent amount. I have been plowing all morning and lake effect is predicted for the next week so maybe the season will really get started. I have seen a few sleds already this morning. Yesterday I wrote about the bag I found on the trail outside of Strongs on the way to Brimley, it was on trail 8 and I left it on top of a post. Well the guy that lost it saw my post and contacted me and he was staying at the Clarke hotel too. He went out and looked for it but didnt find it. If you picked it up or know who has it have them contact me so we can get it back to the owner.

Thanks for checking in and keep up the snow chants……Pete

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 02/04

Is it really gonna snow? We will find out tonight, supposed to be wet and heavy tonite and then lake effect for the weekend. Time will tell. We certainly need it. Its now 1:15 in downtown Frederic and I started out to do this update when I got here at 9 this morning but have just been tied up on other projects.

Got back from the u.p. about 6 last night and did a ride up to Brimley from Strongs. Pretty decent conditions but a little dry sliding into Brimley for gas. I found a bag that fell off an arctic cat on trail 8 after I left Brimley and set it up on a post figuring the guy would come back looking for it. I checked for I D inside of it but nothing so if you have anytime of pack on your sled put your contact info in it in case you happen to lose it. I put one of my business cards inside mine last week when I was at Grand Marais.

All in all I only did about a hundred miles on this weeks trip but it was nice and relaxing. Todays pics were from yesterday at Mission Hill outlook. Lets hope I have a nice snowy report for us in the morning.

Thanks for checking in. Pete
