Indian River Trail Report – 01/21

The groomers ran on both trails last night and conditions are excellent. Mitchell & Ed have been trying to fill in the swampy area at the end of the Alanson connector. Once it has been filled in and freezes up they’ll be able to work that area better. We started the morning at -3 but have climbed up to around 10 degrees.

We’re expecting clouds and temps in the upper 20’s through the weekend. Last night we got a dusting of big, fluffy snowflakes but chances for any snow today are slim. Conditions are quiet both for weather and riders as of this posting.

There is logging happening on Trail 767 just north of Weber Lake so watch for vehicles and even random logs in this area.

Also, there is ice forming on Burt Lake near shore but it is NOT safe to ride snowmobiles across the lake. There is an area at the south end with only a skim of ice which has become snow-covered since the weekend. The area appears frozen but is not. Locals have observed the same thing happen at the mouth of the Indian River where it flows into Mullett Lake. Please do not ride the lakes yet–it is not safe!LOST ON THE RAILROAD GRADE–A SKI-DOO DASH BAG (BLACK) SOMEWHERE BETWEEN BREAKERS IN TOPINABEE AND ABOUT 10 MINUTES NORTH OF THERE. If you find this bag please email info@burtlakemarina.com and we’ll get it back to a grateful owner.

Indian River Trail Report – 01/18

Thank you goes out to our volunteers who groomed each night this holiday weekend. Trails are smooth and snow is plentiful. Temps were in single digits by late yesterday, which helped the base settle in hard after last night’s groom. Plenty of snowmobilers have been enjoying the trails and reporting great conditions too. Our guys will be out again tonight. Areas here picked up another 2 or more inches of snow overnight. There’s no consistent snowfall measurement because of these lake-effect bands. Areas in the bands have gotten several inches while outlying areas received less (but still several inches). We’ve got the same forecast for today and the winter weather advisory continues until midnight. Predictions are for another 3-7″ and highs of only 15 degrees.

Expect traffic to be lighter today. Layer up and hit the trails if you can! Be alert and drive safe. LOST ON THE RAILROAD GRADE YESTERDAY–A SKI-DOO DASH BAG (BLACK) SOMEWHERE BETWEEN BREAKERS IN TOPINABEE AND ABOUT 10 MINUTES NORTH OF THERE. If you find this bag please email info@burtlakemarina.com and we’ll get it back to a grateful owner!
