Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 12/05

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/05

12/5/25

Our Raco crew is crushing it! Already 3 grooms in 2 days!
Please keep in mind, on trail 480 there is construction and we cannot groom from 472 to the gate on the Raco side yet.

Here’s Brimley Bill’s report from his run-
“After Dave groomed the Mission Hill route (889) , I went out and groomed the route from Raco to Brimley and Raco to Spile Dam (8 and part of 480). Raco has more snow than Brimley or the Soo. I made the first run on 480 to the Spile Dam Road turnaround. A couple photos show how deep the snow was before I packed it down. Use caution on trail 480. There were still tracks from automobile traffic.

Trail 8 gets thinner close to Brimley. There are also some thin spots on the powerline, since it is more exposed to the wind. All in all, this is a great start to the season. More cold nights and snow in the forecast.”

Thank you Bill! Looking awesome, especially for December 5th!! ❄️❄️❄️

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 2/28/26
Good morning everyone!
While we certainly didn’t need the warm and sun yesterday, our hard working volunteers were itching to go as soon as temps dropped.
Our first report comes from Warren-
“We went out at 1 AM. Club member Steve & myself at 27 degrees did 480 from the Spile Dam turnaround, and 8 all the way to Brimley and back as well as the electric lines. I think everybody’s gonna be real happy with that, it cleaned up really well. I finished up at about 19° and then left the Groomer for turbo. Turbo is gonna hit the 889 loop and Brimley grade so I think everybody will be ready to go by about 7:30 - 8 o’clock for all of our trails out this way.”
Thank you, Warren & Steve!!❄️❄️❄️
Trail 8 from the Soo to Brimley will be done tonight, the city trails were done yesterday, and will be done again tomorrow night. I’ll update when I hear from the Kinross crew as well, but I know that everything was done on Thursday ahead of the warm up.
Be safe all and enjoy!
Hope to see some of you at the Radar Run at The Cozy Corners Barbeau MI today! The fun starts at noon! See their page for more info! #soo #soo0228 #snowphotos

Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 2/25/26
Good morning all!
We didn’t end up with as much new snow as we wanted out of the system, but lake effect is lingering a bit. I show about 4” of new snow here in the Soo. It looks like just west us (Brimley/Raco) got a little more.
Once operators are out rolling and send me updates, I’ll be sure to share!
Thank you! #soo #soo0225 #snowphotos2/25/26

Sault Ste. Marie Area Trail Report – 12/01

SAULT STE. MARIE AREA UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association >> 12/1/25

It’s opening day in Michigan!!!

We picked up a couple more inches overnight here in the Soo, slowly building what will become our trail base. I show around 8” on the ground here at my place, just off of trail 8.

As we said yesterday, we haven’t received as much snow as areas directly to our south and west. Temps remain cold, and that’s a huge plus to help us freeze the wet areas.

If you venture out, please be safe and watch for water holes, and hidden objects.

If you encounter a closed gate, please do not go around it as it’s closed for a reason- either the landowner is still hunting, or conditions are not safe yet.

We will keep you posted as soon as we are able to start grooming operations.

Thanks all! Our day is finally here!!! ❄️❄️❄️
