SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 01/15

Hi all!

From groomer Dan overnight on trail 8 between the Soo and Brimley. We for sure need more snow to freshen things up, especially after the warm up today, but things shaped up nicely overnight!

Thanks Dan and all volunteers!

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> ðŸ“Ą Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey

Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 01/14

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 01/14

Holy cow! SO MANY SLEDS out today! Getting ready to hit the city trails. We have groomers heading out in Brimley, Raco, and from the Soo to Brimley overnight. Kinross west to Spile Dam was done earlier today. Lots and lots of traffic in and around the area. Hats off to our volunteers and Chippewa Snowchasers groomers. Not easy to prepare for this amount of traffic with no recent snow but we’re all making the most of it! We rode sleds out to Hulbert today and things were in great shape or our way out. I know Snowchasers will also be out tonight to clean up the aftermath of this busy day. Saw lots of people rolling stop signs today and riding the middle of the trail. Please be safe out there! That way we can all live to do it again!
