Gaylord Area Trail Report – 01/09

We’re in the middle of a warm-up up and it rained last night, creating poor trail conditions. The good news is, there are flurries in the forecast! As of now, grooming has been halted due to the warmer temperatures and will resume once it gets colder. Be sure to watch for ice and bare patches in some areas. Be safe out there and have fun!
Please note, due to last April’s ice storm, there are logging operations in several locations. The newest locations are around Van Tyle and North Townline Road (Gaylord) and the intersection of trails 7 & 4 (Waters) toward Dodge Lake. Logging is also taking place on trail #4 along the powerline that crosses Evergreen Drive and near Turtle Lake Road (East of Gaylord). The logging trucks may use the trail as a road at times. Proceed with caution in these areas. Trails are still passable and the groomers are doing their best to smooth the trails out in these areas.

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:
– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
– Ride safe and ride sober.

Meltdown is not what we want to see this time of year. We lost alot of snow overight and it is now icy and slippery. Strong winds and rain most of the night didnt do us any favors. I was outside about 5 this morning and it was very warm out there. Currently at about 11 friday morning its 33 degrees and slight snow in the air. I have had several calls on people wondering what its like out. There is still alot of snow in the woods but with all the rain I think you will go right thru the slush to the bottom. On the other hand weather said we could get up to 4 inches tonight. Its amazing how great conditions can be and how fast it can dissapear ……Pics below are all this morning. If you stop by to see me just wake me up cause I think this is going to be a boring day… Thanks for checking in. Pete
