Gaylord Area Trail Report – 02/24

Gaylord Bureau –

February 24, 2025

1:30 p.m.

As you may know, both of our groomers are currently out for repairs. Our neighboring communities have been able to lend a hand and several of our trails were groomed last week. Thank you to our grooming friends in Lewiston, Grayling and Indian River for getting us ready for last weekend! After a brief warm up and lots of visitors over the weekend, conditions may be quite rough. We’ll update you with any other grooming taking place once we are aware.

Please give a big wave to these groomers if you see them out and about! They are going above and beyond to help our their snowmobiling friends and the Gaylord community. We extend a sincere thank you to them for their efforts!

Keep in mind, our trails are in poor to fair shape and will likely get bumpier. We will keep you updated on the status of our groomers and let you know once grooming resumes. Ride safe and stay tuned for updates!

Check out this live feed to see trail #7, just north of Gaylord.

A few things to remember about our groomers and trails:

– Groomers are out there to help you have a better riding experience and always have the right of way.
– Please move off the trail when groomers are approaching and allow them to safely pass.
– If you approach a groomer from behind, kindly wait for the operator to signal you to pass.
– Grooming can take place at any time during the day or night, so stay alert.
– Always ride on the right side of the trail.
– Ride safe and ride sober.

Want to be ready? Get a free trail map delivered right to your mailbox and plan your adventure!

As always, check back with us for updates and weather reports.

Sledheads of Frederic – 02/24

Can’t I ever be happy? First its no snow, I want to ride, then we have snow and then to much snow, to much plowing, then more snow, great trails, then broke groomers. Now today its sunny and 43 degrees. Just no happy spot. From one extreme to the other. Snow to deep to ride in or easy to get stuck. Weather forcast for this next few days seems to warm so time will tell what the next step is going to be. On the bright side I had a great 60 mile ride to Lovells in yesterday and we found plenty of 2 plus feet fields of untouched snow. Got stuck a couple times and I fell off twice too. While its no fun getting unstuck it was a great ride and way to end up a sunday evening. Time will tell what this week brings us.Thanks for checking in and please ride safely. Pete

4:05 p.m.

We’ve got more great news on grooming! As you may know, both of our groomers are currently out for repairs. Our neighboring communities are lending a hand and several of our trails will be getting some attention. Yesterday the Lewiston groomers did Trail #4 and 404 to the east. The Grayling groomers just took care of Trail #7 from Frederic to Gaylord and back. Indian River groomers will be on Trail #7 tonight from Wolverine to Gaylord and back.

Please give a big wave to these groomers if you see them out and about! They are going above and beyond to help our their snowmobiling friends and the Gaylord community. We extend a sincere thank you to them for their efforts!

Keep in mind, our other trails are in fair shape but will likely get bumpier. We will keep you updated on the status of our groomers and let you know once grooming resumes. Ride safe and stay tuned for updates!

Sledheads of Frederic – 02/22

It’s a quiet, cool and windy afternoon in Frederic. Lots of sleds over at the swamp but I havent heard much brapping going on out there. Steady flow of riders thru here this morning and its now about 1:30 and only 24 degrees. Thats good cause predictions were for warmer than that today. Snow settled a little bit yesterday but we still have an awful lot of snow on the ground. I heard of a serious crash yesterday on trail 7 out by 5 mile road south of Grayling. It didnt sound good so Please ride safely and under control. I always say those sleds will kill you in the blink of an eye. Thanks for checking in. Pete
