Riding the Keweenaw is nothing new for Joshua Clare as he has been coming up to ride for 20 years! However, this trip was different! Joshua explained how this trip was extra special and shared these photos with us!
Joshua said, “We had an amazing trip! I have been coming to the Keweenaw for 20 years, but this trip I brought 3 of my kids and one of their friends. It was their first time riding on real trails!! We stayed in Twin Lakes at the Black Barn Lodge! It was amazing! Thanks to Duwayne for sharing his place on Airbnb! Trails were awesome. We rode 335 miles in three days from Tuesday to Thursday!”
Thank you for taking the time to share Joshua! We are S❄️ glad you all had such a great trip!

Well the forecast played out to be accurate this week for desperately needed fresh snowfall! From February 20th – February 23rd the Keweenaw received 2 FEET snow! 👏❄️ PLUS – it’s STILL snowing! ❄️💃
Tonia O’Rourke & Mickey Hoose have been up taking advantage of the awesome conditions. Tonia shared these photos with us and said, “We had to come up to Copper Harbor to visit with our favorite waitress Ana at The Mariner North! She remembered us and knew we drank coffee and started a new pot!! Weather conditions aren’t that great, we’ll be heading back to our lodging to beat the blizzard coming in! 🥰❤️❄️ It was a great day for snowmobiling to Copper Harbor! Here are all our pictures of our amazing day! Making memories is what it’s all about! Hope you enjoy our adventure! 🥰👍❄️❄️❄️”
Thank you so much for sharing Tonia and we all agree Ana is simply awesome along with everything about the Mariner!
‼️⚠️ Hopefully you all have seen the post earlier today regarding a rough night the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club had with grooming operations. To summarize – a groomer slid off the trail in a wet area, the other two machines spent the night trying to recover the stuck machine. They were unsuccessful and a local contractor will be helping today. The machine is stuck on the side of the trail just north of the junction of trail 130 and trail 3, on trail 3. Groomers will be out today to get trails back into shape. The only trails groomed last night were trail 3 from Toivola to Houghton and trail 3 from Mohawk to Clear Lake Junction(the split to Copper Harbor via Brockway and trail 134)⚠️‼️

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club – 2/24
Groomer Todd reporting:
Fwd:Good Morning Everyone. Ribbons Are Back! The almost 20 inches of fresh snow this week has improved our Superior Snowmobile Club trail system exponentially from a week ago.
Trail 13 West from Greenland to Rockland was groomed early this morning to the trail 137 intersection. Trail 12 out of Greenland to trail 3 was also groomed. I would rate the trail in excellent condition.
I was able to climb the Rockland hills again with the groomer and drag with the pan down. This is a 24 mile run and takes me about 4 hours depending on conditions. I used 24 gallons of diesel and 5 quarts of DEF on this run. Thanks again for supporting the Superior Snowmobile Club!

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress. The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall. Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot. Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord#cadillac #traversecity #petoskey... KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club – 2/22
Groomer Todd reporting!
Good Morning Everyone. I groomed trail 13 East from Greenland towards Twin Lakes late last night and into the early morning hours. The 8 inches of snow we received yesterday morning improved this trail dramatically. Unfortunately I had to bypass a short section of it because the hills are still to icy for the groomer to climb.
This section is about 4 miles in length and runs along the Sleepy River in what’s known as the Hunt Camp land. That section will be bumpy and icy so please ride with caution in that area. Hopefully after this next storm we will have enough snow to climb those hills again.
Thank you for your patience and understanding. The rest of the trail groomed up very well and I would rate it in great condition. I did not have any sled traffic while I was out so it had all night and morning to set up. This run is 38 miles in length and takes me 5 to 6 hours depending on conditions.
I used 36 gallons of diesel and 8 quarts of DEF to groom it last night.
Enjoy the trail should you decide to ride it today. Thank you all for supporting the Superior Snowmobile Club. We appreciate your support and positive comments.
Have a wonderful Wednesday everyone!

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 2/22
This quote from Nick Berendt is beautiful and so true in regards to what keeps them coming back multiple times a year over decades! “Really I do love all the snow and the trails BUT it’s REALLY about the people in the Yoop! Just good good people. “ said, Nick.
🎉Happy 22nd Anniversary!🎉
Nick and Lanna Berendt (frequent riders of the Keweenaw) were married 22 years ago in the Keweenaw and just spent the last few days celebrating their anniversary here! Their friends Terry & Becky Stefanik joined them on this trip to help celebrate!
Nick shared this recap of their trip, “Let’s
just talk about this amazing weekend…Heading north Friday we really weren’t sure what to expect. After rain earlier in the week and trail conditions from Western UP Trail Reports not being the most favorable, we knew rescheduling this trip was not an option as this trip was to celebrate our anniversary.
Some of you know that Lanna Berendt and I got married up north in Lake Linden and this place has become our family’s getaway from reality. Joining us this year again was our friends Terry Stefanik and Becky Stefanik and as much as we started off the weekend a bit nervous I can tell you that the Yoop did not disappoint. Over the last 15 years we’ve become friends with many of the locals and built some really cool friendships. With some of the old friendships and some of the new ones we found every flat trail and every hidden gem. I’m sure I checked Keweenaw Trail Reports about every hour and planned my trail trips accordingly!
Day 2 we headed south on 17 to 3 from Calumet to Mass city stoped for a quick lunch at Parkview – New Lodge and Grill We had a short day but had over 100 miles on before noon.
Day 3 was perfect. After checking Groomer Tracker we could see that heading north for the day was going to be the best option. We ran up to Cliff View Bar and Hanna recommended we head up to Eagle Harbor Inn and WOW was that a great experience, Adam (the bartender) was amazing !! Really I do love all the snow and the trails but it’s REALLY about the people in the Yoop! Just good good people. After lunch we headed down to Frosty’s and if you know, you know…..😉 Trails 130, 134, 132 all just flat and fast! Over 400 miles later and a 8 hr drive home this was our favorite trip north in a very long time !!! Thanks to all the locals that helped us slicks enjoy what I think is the greatest place for winter fun – Keweenaw Peninsula!
Thank you S❄ much for sharing, Nick! Happy Anniversary!
