KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 11/30

We are definitely in for a MUCH better season! It’s awesome to see how quickly the white gold is adding up and the crews hard at work clearing the streets!

Luigi’s Bar Calumet is eagerly awaiting the return of so many of you riders that make it a priority to stop in! Luigi’s is conveniently located right off of Trail 17 in Calumet! Be sure to stop in and warm up! Always a great time!

The forecast is calling for another 1-2 feet of additional snow by Thursday! Trails can officially open tomorrow, December 1st and riders have already been out on state trails 3 from Mass City to Houghton and trail 17 from Hancock to Calumet. (It is the last day of hunting season so riding is only permissible from 11am to 2pm and then after 5pm)

There has not been any mention from the Keweenaw Snowmobile Club on when they anticipate being able to safely start grooming operations and unlocking of gates on trails running across private land. We will keep you posted as Information is released.
We will also update as we hear information regarding the opening of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge for snowmobile crossing. Please be aware that until the bridge has been opened, you would need to trailer across to ride.

Michigan Snowmobile Trail Report

WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Lake effect flurries and snow showers are possible today, March 1st, 2026 across some of northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. With dry air mixing in, totals will be relatively kept in check, but a swath of 1-3", perhaps 4" is possible along M-28 south of Grand Marais. Changing wind fields will also allow for light/brief accumulations along some of our lakeshore regions in the Lower Peninsula, but it's not guaranteed for everyone. Timing is through the remainder of the day. Mild temperatures coming later this week, which should help begin the melting process for many. #miweather #keweenaw #munising #newberry #sooLake effect flurries and snow showers are possible today, March 1st, 2026 across some of northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.
