KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club – 01/14
My snow report from Mass City as of noon today! First it appears that my snow measuring stick needs to be moved for accurate reporting! I get a fail on that one! Lol!
The best way to measure is by shovel, it appears! By that measurement, we have received an additional 10 inches over night. Hooray!! It’s truly a winter scene! I’ll let you judge for yourself with my pics! Thanks for all the dancing and prayers for our community!

Yesterday was very windy and drifty but I would say it feels like this storm and LES has brought us about 18+ inches of fresh and it’s still coming
Winter has arrived here in Twin Lakes Michigan

FROM Krupps Resort >> Thinking that was the first of the 2025-2026 sled fill ups at Krupp's Mini Mart 🤷♀️😊❄️ Like said in the video, we are separate owners 😊 See them for gas, food, trail passes etc and come see us at fhe Resort for cabins/RV spots and pontoons (summer time for those of course haha) Don’t forget we have a huge field that is kept plowed daily (at times more than once a day haha) with a heated changing room, heated portable potty, heated ER building for working on your sleds- also if tools are needed and we have it it’s your to use! FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey
