Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 12/26

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Krupp’s Resort –

Good morning
Kruppers!
The trails are thin but we have high hopes that this storm puts a smile on us snowlovers faces!
It’s hard to say till it comes!
There are talks of a bit of rain for a bit which could impact the snow totals here in Kruppys back yard!
I have a feeling their will be smiles but ya never know!
I just took a ride down to Houghton and the Bridge gates are still locked as of 11am but there is talk of them opening today!
I will let you know as soon as I know!
As I traveled north out of Twin Lakes towards Houghton I saw a few groups of sledders on trail 3!

The base is thin but the trails are snow covered!
So watch the Kruppy cam and keep your fingers crossed that we get slammed!
I will update snows and add pics as soon as something happens so don’t ask what I think will happen because I only know what you know at this point!
Have a great day

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 12/24

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – The forecast is definitely looking positive for the upcoming weekend! The weather app is showing 100 percent chance of snow on Thursday and is estimating 10 inches! More snow to follow after Thursday also!

Trail 124 was opened today, now allowing access into Gay, Mi and the Gay Bar & Grill.

Trail 133 and Trail 122 are still closed due to significant wet areas and low snow cover. Hopefully these will be opened soon.

The snowmobile crossing level of the Portage Lake Lift Bridge has not been opened yet, but “hopefully” within the week. However, the mats will not go down until there has been significant snowfall to enable doing so. Grooming will begin after significant additional snowfall also.

Josh Eller and his crew rode the trails from Mass City to Copper Harbor the past few days. They have shared some photos of the trails prior to yesterday’s snowfall and said that the conditions were consistent with early riding season – wet areas, exposed rocks and low snow cover in some areas. They said the trail from South Range to Mass City was good and flat.

Remember that trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden and Trails 120/121 – The Freda Loop are closed for the entire season.

Continue to do the SN❄W Dances!!
