Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 03/27

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – Currently in the Keweenaw….freshies have started to fall and are falling fast! Trails north of Mohawk/Phoenix are in great spring condition. The trail from Lake Linden to Houghton was in fair to bad condition at about 8pm tonight. Then by 10:30 the ride back was whiteout conditions. The moral of the story is do not make plans based on the forecast! This rain that was forecasted never happened and now it is white gold dumping from the sky! (It is a very wet heavy snow)…

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Monday, March 26, 2018.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and in Fair to good, end of season condition.. Trails on the south end are showing end of season wear and their groomers have been pulled off the trails. The trails on the north end are still in pretty good shape and the groomers are out.

Trail 133 is now closed for the rest of the season, due to logging. Please respect this closure and stay off the trail. There is still plenty of good riding on the rest of the Keweenaw Snowmobile Clubs trail system. You can still get in and out of Gay via trail 122/124.

Remember when you’re out on the trails to watch out for the groomers. They have the right away.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trail are there for riders’ safety so please DO Not remove or destroy them.

Snowfall & Weather:
Snow fall in the Keweenaw Peninsula –No new snow with 33 inches of snow on the ground, 262.5 inches have fallen to date as of 3/26/2018.

Today’s forecast: Mostly cloudy, 20% chance of rain, high 38, low 31
Tomorrow’s forecast: Partly cloudy with a 50% chance of snow, high 37, low 29
Wednesday: Mostly sunny with a 10% chance of rain, high 49, low 28
Thursday: Cloudy with a 10% chance of snow, high 30, low 20
Friday: Showers, with a 10% chance of rain, high 27 low 17

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 03/26

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – Start those snow dances now….. looks like forecast calling for rain could change over to snow! 95 percent of trails north of Mohawk are in great condition. Road crossings and parking lots are getting completely bare. It has been great days of spring riding in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula….
