Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula

The majestic Hungarian Falls...

Along M-26 west of Lake Linden in Tamarack City, turn north onto 6th Street (there is no big sign identifying this incredible waterfalls making it easy to miss!)

Take the left fork (Golf Course Rd) and drive up the hill 0.5 miles to an access road on your left marked by a closed gate. Park along the shoulder and hike in for about 400 yards.

Trails are a bit eroded and steep, watch your footing.

Michigan's Keweenaw Peninsula

Fans of cold brew coffee, take note. The Borealis Broo from Keweenaw Brewing Company — based in Houghton, Michigan — is a brewer’s twist on the popular summertime iced coffee trend. Most coffee-flavored beers are stouts or browns, heavy beers suited to cold winter nights but maybe not ideal for northern Michigan’s warmer months. The Borealis Broo is a nice change of pace: a “coffee-infused amber ale” with a 5.1% ABV. The coffee tinge is soft and subtle, and the beer’s malty sweetness pairs perfectly with its lightly hopped finish. The result is a beer that is both refreshing as a standalone and a scrumptious complement to summertime fare, be it grilled pizza or a bacon burger slathered in barbeque sauce.

Grab a six-pack and take it to your next bonfire under the starry Keweenaw night skies!

I love KBC. I need to get back up to the Keweenaw soon! It's been too long! In the mean time, I'll have to look for this one in the stores if they're distributing it.

This beer is amazing. Right after it came out we were visiting and grabbed some broo beach beers from the co-op. Once home we BEGGED our distributor for itat the resteraunt I work at. SO GOOD.

Good Morning!!!! The day has finally come! Today is brought to you by the Absolutely-Freaking-Awesome TRAILS ARE NOW OPEN!!!!!

The Copper Harbor Trails are made up of over 35 scenic miles of singletrack with some sections overlooking Lake Superior and others in the gorgeous woods. These trails showcase a variety of riding options including downhill tracks, flow trails, traditional cross country and technically featured trails. Trails are open to human-powered activities, and yes dogs are absolutely welcome---we love dogs! But, please keep them on a leash or under your direct control.

Get outside and enjoy! After a big push by a dedicated squad of rainy-day volunteers, we're happy to report that the Copper Harbor Trails are OPEN for 2019!! There are a few corners of the system left to hit with the leaf blower and some new trees may have come down after the most recent storm. The second half of the Keweenaw Point Trail Phase II still needs work due to its remoteness. Otherwise early season conditions will persist until we get some consistent dry weather. Expect mud in places and please report any issues while you are out. RIDE ON.

Great news for the area of trails from Wisconsin border to Watersmeet!Project #3 for the season - LL Route Grading to be completed this year - from the Wisconsin border through Watersmeet will be graded and spot filled. This project got started late last year but weather put a halt to it shortly after it began. The project will start as soon as weather permits. This is where your sticker money goes!! KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports –

More photos from Glenn Rowe’s route last night in Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula!

“The base is anywhere from 1′-4′ depending on trail and locations but we are holding and so far in good to very good shape.” Thanks Glenn!

Conditions as of March 21, 2019:

Most snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are in spring condition. Trail 122 has several flooded areas and will be closed for the rest of the season. The west and east Lac La Belle Loops (132) will not be groomed, due to some icy stretches on hills that have made it unsafe to operate a groomer on. Those trails are still open to snowmobile traffic. As the season works towards a close, the grooming operations will be adjusted on a daily basis to accommodate the safety of our groomer operators, so riders should expect varying conditions on the trails.

Trail 120 and 121 that goes around Freda is closed for the season and will not be reopened, as well as Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden. You can still get to Dollar Bay by way of Hancock and to Lake Linden by way of Calumet. Trail 133 is closed for the season for logging.

Please stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for rider’s safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

Snowfall & Weather:
Snowfall in the Keweenaw Peninsula: No new snow with 38 inches of snow on the ground, 262 inches have fallen to date as of 3/21/2019.

Today’s forecast: Partly cloudy/wind with a 20% chance of snow, high 39, low 23

Friday’s forecast: Partly cloudy/sunny pm, high 27, low 20

Saturday’s forecast: Sunny, high 42, low 30

Sunday’s forecast: Cloudy with 40% chance of snow, high 34, low 15

Monday’s forecast: Partly cloudy, high 28, low 17
