Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/21

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Monday, January 21, 2019.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are in good condition. The groomers are out, so please watch for them. They have the right away.

Trail 120 and 121 that goes around Freda is closed for the season and will not be reopened, as well as Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden. You can still get to Dollar Bay by way of Hancock and to Lake Linden by way of Calumet. Trail 133 is temporarily closed for logging.

Please stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, drive safely. The signs on the trails are there for rider’s safety so please DO NOT remove or destroy them.

Snowfall & Weather:

Snowfall in the Keweenaw Peninsula: 1.5 inches of new snow with 27 inches of snow on the ground, 112 inches have fallen to date as of 1/18/2019.

Today’s forecast: Partly cloudy with a 0% chance of snow, high 15, low 10

Tuesday’s forecast: Snow showers with a 90% chance of snow, high 20, low 16

Wednesday’s forecast: Cloudy with a 20% chance of snow, high 19, low 14

Thursday’s forecast: Cloudy with 60% chance of am snow/wind, high 18, low -8

Friday’s forecast: Cloudy with an 20% of snow, high -2, low -5

This is the Keweenaw Snowmobile Trail System Report for Thursday, January 10, 2019.

Snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and in good condition. The trails are improving with each snowfall. The groomers are out, so please watch for them. They have the right away.

Any trail usage should be done with extreme caution as there are still some thinner spots close to Lake Superior.

Trail 120 and 121 that goes around Freda is closed for the season and will not be reopened, as well as Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden. You can still get to Dollar Bay by way of Hancock and to Lake Linden by way of Calumet. Trail 133 is temporarily closed for logging.
