Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 03/18

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 3/18

Cory Tator Skinner has been riding from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor and everywhere in between for the past three days. Cory shared these photos and said, “Trails have been good to excellent with the exception of passing through Houghton/Hancock which has some bare pavement…..great riding overall!”

Cory has one more day of riding Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula and is hoping, along with all of us that the possible rain in the forecast switches over to all snow! ❄️💃🕺

Grooming operations are continuing as temperatures and conditions permit.

Today, the trail boss, Buzzy shared the daily schedule with us and I shared that earlier….. you can always check the Groomer Tracker app out also to see what has been groomed and when. Once again a huge thank you to these Groomer Operators for doing such an amazing day!

In previous posts I have shared the teaming fuel stops left open along the trail and a list of restaurants for carry out, please refer to those posts if needed for food options.

⛽️ is available at Vansville Bar in Phoenix at the intersection of Trail 3 and 124. Carry out pop, liquor and beer is also available.

⛽️ is available at Copper Harbor Fuel Stop in Copper Harbor, there is also a convenience type store located at the station

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 03/18

KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 3/18

Groomers are out!

This is what Buzzy had to say about today’s grooming, “Wednesday morning sees two machines on Trail 3 between Phoenix and Central repairing a bridge railing that lost a battle with a groomer. A groomer will be heading to Brockway later today and completing a loop on 135 134 back to Mohawk. Another machine will leave Mohawk for Hancock in the afternoon. Tomorrow’s route will include a trip to Toivola which is holding up quite well. Pack a big lunch for a full day of riding on what should turn out to have decent trails with low traffic. Stay right, stay safe, or stay home. Smooth trails don’t give a license to speed, lots of families with little kids out there…

  • Trail 133 is closed for logging. The trail section from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden (a portion of Trail 3) and the Freda Trail (Trails 121 & 120) will be closed the entire season for repair.
