KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Western & Southern UP Trail Reports – 01/20
It was a beautiful morning grooming at 5° and a fresh dusting of snow. The trails are in good shape to excellent from South Range south to Toivola.
Sounds like we have another round of snow Friday-Saturday with LES after the storm. Bottom line we are on our way to getting all the trails in Great Shape.

Yes! Yes! And Yes! We received some measurable fresh snow, Groomer Operators have started to resume grooming operations, and yes you can check that online!
Many comments, messages, calls etc regarding whether grooming has resumed. Please take a minute to “like” the Groomer Tracker
fb page, download the Groomer Tracker App and donate the $10 to receive constant up to the minute information. ($5 of the $10 goes to the club you choose to receive information for and $5 goes to support the app) As you can see from the photos, Groomer Operators are out working with what has so far been received and hopefully the forecast plays true and we receive more!

FROM Krupps Resort >> Thinking that was the first of the 2025-2026 sled fill ups at Krupp's Mini Mart 🤷♀️😊❄️ Like said in the video, we are separate owners 😊 See them for gas, food, trail passes etc and come see us at fhe Resort for cabins/RV spots and pontoons (summer time for those of course haha) Don’t forget we have a huge field that is kept plowed daily (at times more than once a day haha) with a heated changing room, heated portable potty, heated ER building for working on your sleds- also if tools are needed and we have it it’s your to use! FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey
