UPDATE: A special weather statement was just issued for the area… 4-8 possible on Sunday…I know, I know…. we will believe it when we see it…. but it might be better than nothing…. or wet, slushy…. might not 🤷♀️.
Unfortunately it is currently 43 degrees in Houghton 😩. Could someone please turn down the heat!
Adam Garvey took a ride at about noon today and this is his view on conditions….
“Most of trail 132, 135, 134 and 3 from Phoenix north where in great shape as of noon today. I passed multiple groomers. High temps and high traffic is starting to take a toll on the trails already though. Anyone on top of Brockway Mountain today hold on tight and watch for drifts, wind is fierce. Watch for the sled dogs on the trails this weekend and give them plenty of space when passing. I am still seeing a lot of people lost in LLB, had to explain to multiple people last week that the spur trail dead ends at Lac La Belle Lodge / Bear Belly Pit Stop
. There is lake access through my yard only, don’t trespass on the neighbors land please! I stopped for an awesome bowl of Spinach Feta soup at Eagle Harbor Inn”

FROM Great Lakes Weather & Climate >> 📡 Statewide radar loop through 10 AM today (11/9) shows our two distinct snowmakers in progress.
The first one is the synoptic (aka "system") snow associated with a low that is moving east through southern Ohio. The counterclockwise flow around the low is shown over Metro Detroit as moisture interacts with decreasing temps, leading to this morning's snowfall.
Over the U.P. and Lake Michigan, the north winds are ushering in the coldest air of the season, which activates lake effect snow and transitions to the second portion of this snow event. Counties in the corner of southwest lower Michigan, northern Indiana and Illinois are set to receive a firehose of lake effect over the next 24-36 hrs, resulting in accumulations that could push one foot.
Portions of northern lower Michigan and the Saginaw Bay region are also set to receive lake effect snowfall through this evening, with amounts of 3-6 inches possible, with isolated higher amounts. #miweather #keweenaw #westernup #newberry #soo #gaylord #cadillac #traversecity #petoskey
