Munising Area Trail Report – 01/31
TRAIL REPORT, Tuesday, January 31, 2023 6:00 a.m.
BITTER COLD WITH GOOD TRAILS !
Overall Trails are in Good condition with bitter cold bellow zero temperatures. The Deere continues to work overtime with one machine still down. We also still have neighboring clubs helping out with covering trails. The team is doing a very thorough hydraulic flush and expect to have the Prinoth back on the trails tonight.
The hazardous water holes on Trail 418 are starting to freeze in but still ride and cross with extreme caution (Map in images showing locations). Signs now mark both locations. Keep a close eye on conditions as you ride and stay right. Stay tuned for updates!

MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails – 1/31
Todd had a good night out in the cold temps last night. Trail has set up hard with the cold temps we are finally having. With how our section of trail 8 has been the last few days, we are taking a break from grooming our trail tonight, and will be assisting S.O.R.V.A. instead, to help them get caught up. I am told they will be back to full force again today, but they do have some catching up to do. So we will help them out all we can. Looks like a nice weekend coming up, get out and ride while the conditions are good. Ride right, be safe, and have fun out there.

After warm and dry days Sunday and Monday, incoming rainfall is expected by late Monday afternoon. High temperatures will top off in the 40s and 50s by Sunday and Monday. MUNISING AREA UPDATE via TNT Trenary Northern Trails >> Short run today to make sure our east end is smooth and conditions couldn’t be better. Possibly making one more full run before the end of season to make sure we are right on track to finish the season out. Reports have been coming in that the trail is pretty smooth. Grooming will end, but the entire trail will be open through the 31st. Private land closes across the state on the 1st of April, so feel free to keep riding, but please respect private property as land use permits do not allow clubs to keep the trail open. Ride right and ride safe! #munising #snowphotos

Michigan is going to showcase all seasons for today, March 26th, 2026. If you're heading north of M-55, a wintry mix will greet you. Snow totals of an inch, perhaps more will be possible, and a snow map will be out in a bit to showcase totals on a statewide basis. Meanwhile, summer is here temporarily as showers and storms move in by late afternoon south of Grand Rapids and Flint. High temperatures will be in the 60s, and even low-70s, especially south of I-94. More warmth means more fuel for storms though, so on a day like today, you should be rooting against warmer high temperatures to avoid severe weather. Speaking of temperatures, just an insane gradient from north to south. High temperatures in the low-20s for the Keweenaw Peninsula, while areas just south of the Michigan state line jump to near 80°F. Precipitation will start early up north, while southern Michigan doesn't start seeing shower activity until afternoon. More details to come in a bit on our severe weather, but the peak timing along and south of I-94 for severe weather will be after 3 pm EDT. Main severe weather hazard today will be very large hail, so it's probably a good idea to protect your valuables today if you're in the southern two rows of counties, just out of an abundance of caution.
