Newberry Trail Report – 01/10

Jan. 10 2019

Newberry area and north received 8 inches to 12 inches of snow yesterday. All of our trails have wet areas so please be careful due to the warm temperatures. The trail between CR 500 and the Tahquamenon Falls will not be groomed until we get colder temperatures to freeze the swamp.

Trail #9 Good condition.

Trail #45 Fair condition. This trail is groomed to County Road 500. Please be careful between M-123 and Skyline Road the road was graded this past fall and it has a crown in the middle that is causing problems for the groomer drivers until we get more snow. There is drop off on each side of the grade.

Trail #2/9 Good condition but there is still open water holes on this trail.

There is a car parked in our staging area ( by the railroad tracks in Newberry) since last weekend that is in the way for plowing and for trucks and trailers to park this weekend. If anyone knows who this car belongs please call the TASA barn at 906-293-3063 and leave a message

Groomer Report

Lots of snow on the ground on all 3 trails. We are expecting about 2 to 4 inches of snow today. We will be grooming all 3 trails and keep you updated on conditions.

Trail #9 Good to Fair condition.

Trail #45 Fair condition. It has been reported that the Charcoal Grade has a lot of large rocks and open water so please be careful in early season riding. Also the Grade between M-123 and Skyline road was graded this past year and it has crown in the middle that is causing our groomer drivers a hard time because there is drop off on each side of trail until get more snow to fill in the sides. The gate at CR 500 to the Tahquamenon Falls is open but the swamp is not frozen and we will not be grooming this part of the trail until we get colder weather.

South Trail #9/2 Fair condition.
