Drummond Island Trail Report – D.I. Resort – 02/25

Our trails condition depend on which trail you are on. There are still some great trail conditions and riding in areas on the Island read below:

The West End: 2/25/16

This end of the Island is fair to good with thin spots in the canoe bay area. The Quarry Haul road has been plowed on on side but not on the groomed side so it is still usable just stay on the groomed side and watch for vehicles.

The East End: 2/25/16

This end is poor to fair. Avoid the from Glen Cove north towards the Maxton Plains where there is 8 miles of Icy plowed road with NO lubrication for your sleds due to Logging operation in that area. You can still go to the Marble head view point and ride that loop. Last weekend we had some wheeled Vehicles go on the Marble head loop right after it was groomed loop causing nasty ruts but we have that repaired now.

There is logging going on trail 493 from the plains for 8 miles heading towards the east. Please watch for log trucks! This area is icy with very little snow on it. I would avoid this area if possible. There is still a bit less snow on this end of the Island so the snow on trail this end is thinner.

Our trail base is any where from 2 to 4 inches depending on the area with a little less than foot of snow on the ground.

Drummond Island Trail Report – D.I. Resort – 02/18

Our trails condition depend on which trail you are on

The West End: 2/16/16

Yesterday he was on the west half of the Island and said that the trails are getting thin but were for the most part flat. That is not to say you may not click off a few rocks here and there especially in the Canoe Bay area.
This year has been very challenging for doing trail reports. There are some areas that are really good and some that are really bad…. more than any thing it is a lack of snow in our area coupled with the fact that we have a lot of rocks on the island, then add in the warm temps of this winter, like today it is 31.6 degrees right now. Last Saturday it never got over 0. This Friday & Saturday is supposed to get really warm, they are mentioning the “R” word. Keep your fingers crossed that doesn’t happen!
The East End: 2/16/16

He just came in form grooming our east end today. That is our worst area. The snow is thinner on the east end of the Island and there is logging going on in the Plains area. The log trucks are making that area icy, leaving little to no lubrication for the sleds. We were recommending that you stay away from where they are logging because of that. We did get about 3 inches of fresh snow yesterday so Im hoping that they are better now.
