Harbor Springs Trail Report – 12/05

HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club – 12/05

We haven’t gotten near the snow that they’ve been calling for over the last few days. The snow depths vary across the trails system, we have roughly 10” in Harbor Springs but only about 5” up in Carp Lake. We had high winds over night which will continue throughout today, some areas will be drifted & there’s a possibility for down branches / trees.

All the gates will be opened up by tonight. We will keep everyone updated as to when we can start grooming.

Baldwin Area Trail Report – 12/05

BALDWIN AREA UPDATE via Trailriders Snowmobile Club – 12/05

Grooming update! Our club president Dan and grooming coordinator Mike spent last evening into the late night hours smoothing out the middle section of our trails from Baldwin to northern Newaygo county. He said they were able to fix the majority of ORV ruts, chatter bumps etc by “snirting it up a bit”. We received 3-4” of additional snow in that area overnight so it should be looking good. We will be grooming our middle, north, and rail trail today and more than likely tomorrow.

We are working through some hydraulic issues on our tractor for the south trails (from Newaygo sports park to north of White Cloud). We are hoping to get that one up and running very soon. Again, please use caution on curves and corners and try to feather into your starts and stops to let us get a solid base built before the warm up next week. 🚨 reminder, the west trail from Whiskey Creek to Hart remains closed until January 1.

Please keep off this section or you will be cited for Trespassing on private property! Continue your snow dances and hope that this warm up coming later this weekend is short lived! Use caution on the trails as groomers could be around any corner or hill at anytime of day or night right now. Please remember to yield to our groomers as we cannot get off the trail as equipment is too large!
