PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders – 01/08

1/8/25
5 degrees this morning under a clear sky. I have picked up about 2" of fresh snow in the last 24 hrs. here at my place. I need to start out with an apology for yesterdays report. I messed up the days we are runnin. We hit the high ground trails yesterday and taking today off for maintenance, sorry, so here we go……

Groomer Mike H. ran the Point trails #452 and #453 yesterday and called them good +. The thin spots are gettin better but he did skip the ridge along Doe Lake road cause thats still pretty thin, but still ridable, you`ll hit a lot of roots so be careful.

Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trail #8 and called that good with the thin spots gettin better also. The rest of yesterday report still holds.

With these colder temps I have high hopes we can start freezing in the wet areas so keep checking back.

All I have fer today.
LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groomer Chris

So ya, took off at 6 all cognetoie thinking I'd just focus and pay attention to the task at hand tonight but see we've been spotted, evidence from several places were out here, could be the lights, it is orange, dunno but it didn't work! 😂

I just turned south at Wolf Inn, if we get this 7" Carl Bonac says "anything close to the Soo" , that's us right? 😉 we could used it but is pretty awesome right now, no complaints here! Petoskey Area Trail Report – 01/07

PETOSKEY AREA UPDATE via Petoskey Snowmobile Club – 01/07

Little trail update, and update on the groomers. The trails are setting up nicely even with this little snow we still have a decent amount in the woods and the trails are flat! The trail to Walloon doesn’t quite have enough to groom yet but when it does we will get that into shape. Early season riding in some spots but at least you can get out and support some local businesses that need the support!
Also a groomer update! The south groomer slay needed some repair but the crew at White Diamond LLC got the slay dialed in and fixed!
The groomer also got a new light bar and man is that thing bright! Should have no problem seeing us on the trail!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Accumulating lake effect snow continues across northern Michigan today into Sunday. Gusty winds will lead to blowing and drifting snow, leading to quick drops in visibility – especially across open areas. Wind chills look to stay below zero today into tonight. Cold temperatures may also lead to freezing of wet roads this morning, contributing to potentially hazardous travel conditions for the first half of the weekend. #miweather #gaylord #cadillac #benzie #traversecity #petoskeyAccumulating lake effect snow continues across northern Michigan today into Sunday. HARBOR SPRINGS AREA UPDATE via Harbor Springs Snowmobile Club >> We had all three groomers out last night & the snow was coming down! Everything was groomed other than the Alanson Trail & Cross Village loop. The Alanson trail has the least amount of snow on our system & there are still some open water holes but overall the trails are in good shape.
Trees are continuing to fall from the ice storm damage earlier this year so please keep that in mind when out riding & especially in high winds. If you come across a down tree & are unable to safely remove it from the trail please let us know.
Temperatures are supposed to stay cold through the weekend & we are expected to get another 2-6 inches of snow. There is a warm up predicted Tuesday-Thursday with possible rain, we are hoping that changes but we will keep everyone updated.
Ride safe, ride sober, & ride right! #harborsprings #petoskey #snowphotos

Several inches of snow is expected across parts of northwest lower and the eastern U.P. by Saturday morning with additional lake effect snow continuing through Saturday. Below zero wind chills are expected for most areas late tonight through Saturday. Wind gusts of 25-35+ mph will lead to patchy blowing/drifting snow, especially across open areas.
