Frederic / Gaylord Area Trail Report – Sledheads of Frederic – 01/20

FREDERIC / GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic – 01/20

A sunny and very crunchy minus 4 degrees on MLK day in downtown frederic. I took a ride thru grayling this morning and the pic below is a bunch of frosty sleds parked at the Ramada. Sled traffic yesterday was steady all day. We only had a half inch of new snow in Frederic overnight but I talked to a guy that was out by Manistee Lake and he said they got about a foot all day yesterday. I guess frederic is out of the way of the snow maker in the sky. Trail crossings I looked at on the way here were still nice and white and you can thank the extra cold temps for that. Still the same story yesterday with both good and bad trails but everyone enjoying what they can. Thanks for checking in. Pete

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Gaylord Michigan >> Accumulating lake effect snow continues across northern Michigan today into Sunday. Gusty winds will lead to blowing and drifting snow, leading to quick drops in visibility – especially across open areas. Wind chills look to stay below zero today into tonight. Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/20

PARADISE AREA UPDATE via Paradise Area Night Riders – 01/20

1/20/25
3 degrees this morning and cloudy. It snowed most of the day yesterday and last night. I`m gonna say we got a foot total! Here`s what went on yesterday…….

Groomer Keith ran the Pine Stump trails 8/9 and he told me they are in the best shape he`s seen this year!!

Groomer Glen is finally off the IR list, he`s been on it all season. He ran the Point trails #452 and #453 and called them good. He did hit the Doe Lake Rd ridge on the north side of the system. He said it was quite beat up and still a little thin with snow but got it decent. He dug up a lot of dirt on that section so its a little brown but better than it was rough wise.

Me and Groomer Mike C. are gonna take 2 machines into the swamp south of town this morning and see what we can do. Hopefully, with some luck, we can get it passable. I`ll let ya`ll know tomorrow morning.

OK, quick report, I`m off to go work in da swamp.

LET `ER SNOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Groomer Chris

NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> I know you're all sleeping, but we're out here doing cool things for all of you. 😊
So ya, took off at 6 all cognetoie thinking I'd just focus and pay attention to the task at hand tonight but see we've been spotted, evidence from several places were out here, could be the lights, it is orange, dunno but it didn't work! 😂
Anyway, 4th season playing with one of these and I can tell you it's been a perfect storm 😁 of continuous snow, temps, and all of you working with us to leave the snow on the corners for us to squish, ( See how wide and Flat they're building up!!) I just turned south at Wolf Inn, if we get this 7" Carl Bonac says "anything close to the Soo" , that's us right? 😉 we could used it but is pretty awesome right now, no complaints here! Actually belive this keeps up, we will make the cover of Better Cabins & Trails this year 😎
Hope you get outta bed and come see what we did for you!
