Paradise Area Trail Report – 01/14
January 14, 2022
4 degrees below zero this morning and partly cloudy. No new snow and it looks like the next couple of days are gonna be the same. I got more good news so here ya go…..
My run yesterday into da swamp with a drag went good. I have a 5 ton groomer and a 2 ton drag and didn`t break thru anywhere. It is a bit rough in there, think frozen slush, but ridable. Key word here is frozen though. I left the gates open!! The rest of the trail I will rate as good.
Groomer Gerald ran the Falls trail #45 last night and he rated it as fair to good, just a few thin spots to drop it into fair catagory. He went across the small problem water hole and just cracked it, didn`t break thru. He said it is safe for sno-mo traffic.
We will be runnin a full schedule for the weekend. All our trails are rated as fair to good with just a few thin spots. It looks like the beginning of next week we should be gettin some snow, lets hope that pans out for us!
Now…..for the final good news….I`m waving the green flag!!!!!! COME ON UP!!! If we get this snow "they" are calling for our trails will get better and better!!!!!

Our entire system was groomed yesterday and there`s only one way to describe it......EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now, those of you who follow me know I don`t use that word very often, but I ain`t kiddin, it doesn`t get any better than this. The swamp south of town, the Falls trail, ALL of our low land trails are better than I`ve seen in a long time!!!!!
If you don`t have plans on gettin U.P. here.....make `em. It won`t last forever.
Thats all I have to report.....one word.....EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can tell you there are nights now and then I'd like to go out back there and have a discussion with our little drag about what we're supposed to be doing with a Ball Pean hammer, thank your Ribbons for that.
So far, very little wear and tear, get to focus on improving, not repairing, and the drag and I are now getting along, keep you posted.
Oh, we're at 100% for getting outta the way so far! 🥰 Thank You!
11:04pm. In and outta North Store Wolf Inn, took the time to cut a limb up, on the exit end, and a leaning tree at the exit on I75 there crossing back to the Windy Corners intersection that have been bugging us awhile. That trail Report is I love when it turns out like it did, and we can do that for them. 😊
Turned right towards Holland Lake, this section seems to be where my phone jams up, it is after 11 on a Monday , as I said earlier, 9 was pretty nice when we arrived, even better when we leave, I'm just going to make tracks for a hunk of time now, turn up the radio, become one with Tucker, don't fret 😉

Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it.
Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning.
