Grayling Trail Report – Fay’s Motel – 02/18

Greetings Sledders,

Many thanks to the Price group for stopping by during our groomer scheduling meeting to thank the guys for providing them good rides all week, at least on our trail system. Taking that time was certainly appreciated.

We had two guys in that rode Wednesday and picked up 100 miles and said that they probably saw 12 or 13 miles of what they would consider rough trails and that occurred elsewhere. What’s the big deal about this you ask? They are vintage sled riders on 1980 Ski-Doos, in a phone con with Keith after their ride (his name too) he said he was happy with conditions and glad he made the decision to pull the trigger and come up.

WEEKEND AHEAD: Not sure how everything is going to hold up and this is primarily based on the weather wizards forecast. They are calling for temps that will be flirting with the freeze mark and the scariest part is the partly cloudy piece of the forecast. There are too many variables with this type of situation to feel comfortable with predicting what if anything will happen. Traffic volume, amount of cloud cover, humidity in the air etc. Just a heads up so you are aware of the forecast ahead of us. Off trail and any trail segment that is relatively clean likely will not be impacted regardless of how much sun we get.

GROOMING: We will be back at full strength tomorrow when we take delivery of JD-1 and the weekend schedule has been set. The day time grooming schedule may be altered somewhat depending on how much sunshine we get. We have 2 out of 3 drags that will not process wet snow. As a result we may have to do some very late night runs.

Ride Often and Please Be Safe, Keith, Sandy and The Girls.

At Fay’s Motel enjoy direct access to the Grayling Area snowmobile trails.

Cadillac Area Trail Report – Cadillac Trails – 02/18

FROM THE CADILLAC WINTER PROMOTIONS
Wednesday–February 17, 2010

According the to groomers, the trails in the forest remain a 9 out of 10. Some of the corners are thin and down to the ice base. The groomers are constantly working to bring snow back on to the trails in the corners where the sleds spin it off. The White Pine is reported to be in good shape south of Tustin but has some brown areas between Tustin and Cadillac.

Snow gauge*: 7 1/2 inches

FROM WOLF LAKE MOTEL – 02/18
Baldwin / Irons / Cadillac

Hi All. The trails are in good shape and are ready for all the snowmobile clubs that we have coming up for the annual ride. So with that said the trails are going to be very busy this weekend. That is what’s nice around here, we are in the middle of six different grooming clubs, (which we are members of four) and if one club isn’t grooming today, one of the other clubs are grooming today. If the temps stay cool the trails will hold up nicely, if the temp spikes, then the conditions will go down. So lets hope it stays cold. I went for a 130 mile ride on 2-15-10 and it was awesome. Latest local grooming schedules are on our web site.
We still have a couple rooms and On- site snowmobile rentals available for this week and weekend, so call soon or be left out in the cold. Call 231 745 4101 8am until 10pm.
