John and Joe The reported good snow to Pine Stump. Trail #9 is in good condition.

Groomer Bert reported Trail #45 to the Co Rd 500 is in Very good condition.

Thank you to Paradise groomers for there help getting from the falls to County Rd. 500, they reported no water holes.

Trail #2/9 to Trout Lake and Eppoufette is in good condition over all, with a 4 to 5" base. Jeff headed to to Rexton / Eppoufette last night and reported . We have got to the power lines at H-40, we will attempt to get through to Trout Lake as soon as the swamp freezes along the railroad.

Be careful on the corners as they may be icy.

There is logging on Trail #45 North of Skyline Dr. for 4 to 5 miles. There is also logging South of M-123 on Trail #45.

Logging on Trail #498 North of Co. Rd. 455, be careful in these areas, as the trail may be plowed.

It has come to my attention that there is no fuel symbol on the snowmobile trail map for the North Store. The North Store is located at Wolf Inn Jct. They are open from 9 A.M. to 9 P.M.

We need more snow! And cold weather.

The cerfew for the Village of Newberry is 11:00 P.M. until 7:00 A.M.

FYI: There will not be gas at Rainbow Lodge this year as they are closing for the winter. There is a gas pump logo on the trail map, but they will be CLOSED. The map is new for this year, and I recieved the information about Rainbow Lodge after the maps went to the printer.

Keweenaw Peninsula Trail Report – 01/23

Winter Storm Warning in effect until 7 PM EST this evening… Not that it has started to snow on the Keweenaw, I don’t think it’s going to stop! 5 to 7 inches over the weekend, 4 to 6 more today, more tonight, more tomorrow, more the next day, more…… On the positive side, cross country ski and snowmobile trails are in terrific shape – groomers actually have new snow to work with.

This is the Keweenaw trail system report for Monday, January 23, 2012.

The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and groomers are out working on them. Trails are in fair to very good condition. Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails….they have the right of way!!! Please watch out for deer on the trails too.

Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.

The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.
