Cadillac Area Trail Report – Cadillac Trails – 01/25

Wednesday, January 25, 2012

Just received this message from our Trail Coordinator: It was sent to our groomer operators.

‘I just contacted our president (Don) and we are in agreement to stop grooming until we recieve more snow. All 3 tractors were out last night to smooth out the forest roads that were not groomed on Sunday night, and we feel going out again with so little snow will do more harm than good. I do not see snow for several days. We will have to wait and see.’

We will keep you posted as conditons change. No news means no change.

We lost a lot of snow yesterday. We had 9 inches on the gauge before the rain and thaw. Rain set in late Sunday night leaving us with a disastrous outcome. Monday morning the snow on the gauge was down to 3.5 inches and everything was coated with ice. This morning , we found an inch and a half of snow on the ground and it’s snowing now. Our President is currently checking out the trails. As soon as I have his report, I will post it. Keep checking back.

JUST IN!!! 12:00 p.m. Our President gives the following trail report:

1. Wide forestry roads have a solid ice base and fresh snow.

2. Narrow trails fair with slush puddles.

3. Will be grooming tonight to smooth out some of the bumps.

The forest roads are in good shape yet however the narrow forest trails are downgraded to fair. The entire base is coated with ice.

Snow accumulation: 5 inches
