Snowmobile Trail Report – Saturday Morning
by Heart Lake Resort on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at 8:10am

We are had about an inch or so of new snow last night and it’s continuing to snow this morning as I write this – light but steady. I’m looking at 2 4.1 degrees right now here at Heart Lake Resort just south of Gaylord by about eight miles. I would rate trails in our area only to be in fair condition. More towards fair to good where they run through the woods and are protected but more towards fair to poor where they are in the open. Hopefully if this snow continues, they will improve by the hour. The back country still has good snow. If you ever need more information or an honest trail report whether you’re staying with us or not, or, even if you need a place to stay, please feel free to call. Thank You. Trails are in very rideable condition. Trails are frozen flat but a good snow on top in most locations. Conditions still range from fair to good! With the sun from Monday an occasional bare spot has occured in a couple of areas, but only 2-3 feet at a time. The farther south the less snow, the farther west and north more snow and better trails.

Our Radar Run is Sat Feb 25th 10-3. The groomed track is in great shape.

Join us on Facebook also.

We will be taking over he 38 miles of trails groomed by Kinross Charter Township last season.

Sault Ste. Marie to Brimley, Trail #8 – Groomed Mon night

Base 1-4 inches -Trail is in Very Fair to Good Condition. It is icy under the snow. Brimley shoulders are bare. Go with the flow of traffic on the bridge in Brimley!

Brimley to Raco, Trail #8 – Groomed Sun night

Base 1-4 inches -Trail is in Fair to good Condition. The first mile going west of Brimley has low snow in the open area. Make sure you go with the flow of traffic when crossing the bridge in Brimley or you will be ticketed!!!!!

Raco to Naomikong Trail #8 [where Paradise meets us], Trail #8 – Groomed Mon morning

Sault Ste. Marie City Trail, Trails #497, #449, parts of #8 & #49 – groomed Sun night

Base 1-4 inches – Trail is in Fair to Good Condition. Icy.

City curfew is from 1am – 6 am. Remember most City streets are open to traffic, 20 mph, stop at all intersections, and ride the right hand side of street not on side walks. Watch for closed streets that are posted, mainly around the hospital, university, and state trunk lines.

Sault Ste. Marie to Kinross, Trail #49 – Groomed Sunday morning

Base 2-5 inches – Trail is in Fair to Good Condition. When the trail is running along roads make sure you go with the flow of traffic on the right side of the road.

Kinross loop and south to Pickford, parts of Trail #49, #494, #472 groomed Friday night

Base 1-4 inches – Trail is in Poor to Fair Condition. Lower snow the farther south towards Pickford

Kinross to Raco, Trail # #480 & #472 groom Sunday evening

Base 1-4 inches – Trail is in Fair to Good Condition. The water areas are all frozen up. Not much snow between you and the ground.

The Downtown Trail has not been groomed yet, but it is marked. The city will not set up the barrels until we have enough snow. They are talking about doing it next week, and then it rained.
