Who said winter was over? Not on the Keweenaw – 15.5 inches of new snow in 24 hours…….and more on the way! Don’t put the snowmobile, or the skis, away yet. Plenty of weekends left for that "last" snowmobile or ski trip! Groomers are out and trails, once they’ve been hit and the drifts knocked down, are in super shape! What are you waiting for? — Via
Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula Page
This is the Keweenaw trail system report for Monday, February 27, 2012.
The snowmobile trails from Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor are open and groomers are out working on them. Trails are in very good condition. Remember to watch out for the groomers when you’re out on the trails….they have the right of way!!! Please watch out for deer on the trails too.
There is logging on a portion of Trail 133.
Please be aware that if you snowmobile on U.S. Coast Guard property you could face federal trespass charges.
The Keweenaw Convention & Visitors Bureau asks that you stay on the trails, STAY OFF THE ICE, respect private property, do not drink and drive, and above all else, please, drive safely. The signs on the snowmobile trails are there for the riders’ safety. Please, DO NOT remove or destroy these signs.

Saturday Morning Trail Report
by Heart Lake Resort on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 8:05am
Better Trails Now – New Snow Finally! In the last 36 hours, give or take, we’ve received some good snow. I’m looking at about six inches of new snow on our snow gauge here at Heart Lake Resort. The trail rating can easily be upgraded now from poor to fair to fair to good in most areas. You’ll find some really good snow in the protected areas and in the back country. The forecast over the next few days is looking good as well – go to NOAA.gov and plug in Gaylord, MI. The temperature now is 23.1 on our digital weather station. We have quite a few riders here this weekend. Winter is back. And remember, if you ever need more information or an honest trail report, whether you’re staying with us or not, please feel free to call. If you need a place to stay, please give us a call as well. We are now booking for Spring Golf Groups, your Family Reunion for Memorial Day Weekend and Summer Family Fun. Thank You.
