KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Snowmobile Club – 3/31
March 31st is here and this is the last official day of the 2021/22 season. Trails running through private land will be closed after today. Trails running on state land do not close. Within the KSC trail system that is trail 17 from Calumet to Hancock and trail 3 running south of Houghton that do not close to snowmobile traffic. These trails are open to ORV traffic. Our snow “storm” sure didn’t pan out…. Keweenaw County only recorded 4.5 inches of fresh snowfall and a total of 305.5 inches for the season so far. There is definitely not a lack of snow though for those of us out enjoying the trails today! Reid Berman has been up riding Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula for the past week and half 😳 and shared these photos from this morning. Reid said, “It’s pretty good out here, a few bumps, but they are minor. It has been good riding!” Hope anyone that has the opportunity to ride today enjoys the day!

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan --> Historic late season snow storm ends today. Snow continues this morning, heaviest across the north central highlands. Snow will then quickly diminish this afternoon and will end most areas by late afternoon. Where the heaviest snow has fallen, travel will be very difficult this morning. Also, where snow has collected on trees, gusty winds this morning may still break tree limbs and cause additional power outages. With warmer weather ahead, melting snow will lead to water level rises on rivers and streams, creating the potential of more flooding... #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising#seney#newberry #soo #straitsareaHistoric late season snow storm ends today. WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan --> The warm and dry pattern will end on Saturday as the next system moves in bringing rain on Saturday and rain/snow on Sunday. KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via The U.P. Superior Snowmobile Club --> On this final day of the 2022-2023 season, I wish to thank our awesome groomers. They not only groom, but maintain and repair our equipment, do trail rescues, repair wet areas on the trails, plow out our barns, tree removal, make new trails with signage for reroutes, clear debris under bridges and repair, and replace missing signs through out the season. Not to mention sending me trail updates, so that I can share the information with our members, and the public! We certainly could not do, what we do, without this great team!! Their support, and dedication to our club is priceless! Groomers from our Greenland barn: Mike S., Joe P., Kurt, Todd W, Todd H., Jon, Greg, and Mike H., Joe R., and Jim F. Twin Lakes barn: Brad, Steve, Richard, Dave, Paul, Troy, and Jerimia. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
