Sault Ste. Marie Trail Report – 04/10

SAULT STE. MARIE UPDATE via Sault Ste. Marie Snowmobile Association – 4/10

Beautiful day out there today to get the gates closed. Steve and Pete were out and here’s what Steve had to say-
“Pete and I left Ashmun Bay this morning on our side by sides and went and closed gates.
We made it to every gate on our 103 mile trail system.
We were able to close all the gates but two. Snow was still deep in places. Pete and a round nose shovel moved a lot of snow today. We need some warm weather to help us with the last ones.
Our crew is ready to start brushing and signing as soon as weather allows. The last two weeks were dedicated to repairing our equipment and organizing our trailer.
The last few weeks of signing last year was brutal. We broke the frame on our trailer and we were in water everywhere we went. The trailer is a 1962 model single snowmobile trailer that was sold by Sears. At 60 years old, I’m hoping the trailer still has lots of trail miles left in it.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone enjoy parts of our trail system on wheeled vehicles during this snowmobile off season.
I want to thank Chippewa County SORVA for the time and effort they put into improving Trail C (Trail 8 in the winter) last summer.
The stretch from 5 Mile Rd to 6 Mile Rd is in great shape this spring. The water was flowing in the new ditches and there is no longer a 3 to 4 foot water hole there. It was a big project and will benefit us for many years moving forward.
Steve Lawson”
Thanks guys!
