KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 3/26
It’s officially the last Saturday of the 2021/22 season! Groomer Operators were out last night and trails should be in good condition!
Brent Mason shared these photos from yesterday and said, “Our day started in Calumet and headed to Vansville Bar for gas. With the temps already 39 degrees and sunny the trails were really soft and starting to whoop out but that’s to be expected with the warm temps. We then headed to Copper Harbor and the trails held up remarkably well for how warm and soft the snow was. We then headed back to Vansville for gas again and then to the Fitz for dinner in Eagle River. Our meal was absolutely amazing at the Fitz . We left around dark and road to Eagle Harbor and that trail was a little whooped up but overall really good shape. Trails were already starting to firm back up. We then got back on trail 3 headed back towards Calumet and Trail 3 was remarkably really nice with the amount of traffic that was on it today. We had the wonderful pleasure of coming across one of the awesome Keweenaw Snowmobile Club groomer operators that gave us a sweet smooth ride back to Calumet. Thank you Keweenaw snowmobile club!🤟
I think tomorrow the trails are going to be absolutely awesome with the cooler temps coming in.”
Sounds like an awesome day, Brent! Thank you so much for sharing! Agreed that trails should be even better today with the colder temps and grooming operations last night!
Note:
Trail 122, 124 are closed for the remainder of the season
Trail 3 from Dollar Bay to Lake Linden and Trail 120/121 Freda Loop are closed
The trail spur to High Rock Bay is very rough – not recommended
Trail 130 was not groomed last night and was pretty whooped up yesterday
All other trails were groomed from Toivola to Copper Harbor with the exception of across the Mountain.
Vansville Bar is not allowing staging in the lot
