Paradise Area Trail Report – 02/01
February 1, 2022 28 degrees this morning and cloudy with the wind whippin outa the SE. My wind speed gauge thingy ( I know there is an official name for it ) froze up a couple weeks back so can`t give you the speed, but its got to be 25-30 MPH. It sounds like we are in for a one day warm up today, close to 40, then back down to normal, whatever that is. The local radio weather guesser said January was about 5 degrees below the long term average…..dats good. Nuff on the weather…..here`s the trails. Groomer Glen ran the Point trails #452 and #453 and told me they are in beautiful shape except for the short 3-4 mile section thats been giving us trouble all season due to lack of snow cover. He called that section snirty but fair. Groomer Mike C. ran the Pine Stump trail #8 and called that very good but Siberia is wind blown and drifty with some thin spots. Groomer Gerald ran the Falls trail #45 last night but I haven`t heard from him this morning yet but I know it is good to very good. OK. All we need is some more snow to get these trails upgraded to excellent again. I see way down below ya`ll are fixin to get hammered, wish it was headin this way! We might get an inch or two "they" are saying. Do your best snow dances, maybe we can sway some this way! I ran the South trail #8 and will call that very good with the exception of the swamp. It is still froze solid but it sure gets beat up fast cause of the icey surface. I`ll call that section as just good for now.

Second stop sign out, 10.3 tonight
I can tell you there are nights now and then I'd like to go out back there and have a discussion with our little drag about what we're supposed to be doing with a Ball Pean hammer, thank your Ribbons for that.
So far, very little wear and tear, get to focus on improving, not repairing, and the drag and I are now getting along, keep you posted.

11:04pm. In and outta North Store Wolf Inn, took the time to cut a limb up, on the exit end, and a leaning tree at the exit on I75 there crossing back to the Windy Corners intersection that have been bugging us awhile. That trail Report is I love when it turns out like it did, and we can do that for them. 😊
Turned right towards Holland Lake, this section seems to be where my phone jams up, it is after 11 on a Monday , as I said earlier, 9 was pretty nice when we arrived, even better when we leave, I'm just going to make tracks for a hunk of time now, turn up the radio, become one with Tucker, don't fret 😉

Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it.
Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning. 3 degrees this morning under a partly sunny sky. It was minus 6 when I went to bed last night at 10! No new snow last night but we did pick up 3-4" the night before. Just a quick report to keep ya`ll informed before I head out the door to go grooming myself. Here`s the scoop from yesterdays runs.....
Groomer Keith hit the Stump trails and called them good.
Groomer Patrick did the Falls trail and called that one good too.
Groomer Dave ran the South trail #8 and said the same, even the swamp is good to go!
Here`s a STRONG suggestion to the boondockers. Both Patrick and Dave told me they saw a lot of tracks off trail on the Falls trail and in the swamp. This is a VERY BAD idea as both trails still have a lot of water and soft spots where you could sink up to your arm pits. It is NOT SAFE to ride off trail in there where the trail is not packed in. If you get buried in there we cannot help cause we will not risk getting a groomer stuck!!! It is a very expensive towing bill too if you can find someone to help. Another tip, I am finding it very frustrating with some riders not yielding to the groomers. Its a long day for us to begin with and some riders are not getting to the side when they see us coming or blasting by us from behind. PLEASE just get over and let us by or wait for us to stop and let ya by from behind....PLEASE. Rant done
We plan on runnin the entire system today/tonight.

10:08 Lot and Lots of time to ponder things out here, and we see things out here sooner, and better from our picture windows and Lazy Boys, I was wondering how many of you come into corners at a Very respectful safety minded speed only to find a series of Rupp eating craters that had you in an entirely different spot half way around and coming out of that corner?
In and outta Windy Corners, I've done better, not the snows fault, kept loosing my prime, most, very nice, its a personal goal thing.
