17 degrees this morning and cloudy. No new snow in the last few days but it has stayed cold, looks like its supposed to stay that way too. Here`s what I got today….
The Pine Stump and the Point trails were both run yesterday and both groomer drivers told me the same thing. Both trails are rated as good but there are a few thin spots. Darn, we could use more snow!!
Today, I am runnin south on trail #8 and gonna hit the swamp with a drag for the first time. If everything goes good I will leave the gates open, if the gates are closed it means don`t go around them, its still too ugly!! Groomer Gerald is runnin the Falls trail #45 today and will go across the problem water hole for the first time. It should be good to go but if not we do have a detour set up around that one. The rest of that trail is rated as good.
I have had a request from the DNR and the police to post this next thing so pay attention. We have had a lot of trouble this year ALREADY with trespassing and a couple of crashes. PLEASE PEOPLE, stay on the trail unless you are positive it is ok to ride off trail in that area. PLEASE stay on the right side of the trail and ride with respect and common sense, just don`t go flying everywhere. We are gonna lose our trail system if people don`t respect private property and quit acting like jerks! Its gonna be a busy weekend and the police WILL be out there! OK. Peace, and be careful this weekend.

WEATHER UPDATE via US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan >> Another quickly-moving Clipper will bring a round of widespread, light snow beginning this evening, followed by lingering lake effect snow across the NW wind snow belts for Tuesday. Totals of an inch or less are expected for most of the UP, but where lake effect snow occurs, up to 2-5in of snow is possible tonight through Tuesday evening. As winds pick up early Tuesday, patchy blowing snow may contribute to reduced visibility in the NW wind snow belts. NEWBERRY AREA UPDATE via TASA Tahquamenon Area Snowmobile Association >> So being our four door is in for a well needed nap, plugged in and warm, think we should take our 2 door Sport Coupe out for a spin up 9? 9 o'clock Second stop sign out, 10.3 tonight I can tell you there are nights now and then I'd like to go out back there and have a discussion with our little drag about what we're supposed to be doing with a Ball Pean hammer, thank your Ribbons for that. So far, very little wear and tear, get to focus on improving, not repairing, and the drag and I are now getting along, keep you posted. Oh, we're at 100% for getting outta the way so far! 🥰 Thank You! 11:04pm. In and outta North Store Wolf Inn, took the time to cut a limb up, on the exit end, and a leaning tree at the exit on I75 there crossing back to the Windy Corners intersection that have been bugging us awhile. That trail Report is I love when it turns out like it did, and we can do that for them. 😊 Turned right towards Holland Lake, this section seems to be where my phone jams up, it is after 11 on a Monday , as I said earlier, 9 was pretty nice when we arrived, even better when we leave, I'm just going to make tracks for a hunk of time now, turn up the radio, become one with Tucker, don't fret 😉 Meant to tell you, snowing pretty good now and winds have kicked up, drifting, getting interesting. #newberry #snowphotos... WEATHER UPDATE via Michigan Storm Chasers >> Lake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026. Discussion Our west winds kick up to the 30-40 mph range later tonight. Prior to that happening, a northwest wind will batter some lake effect areas with an additional 1-3" this afternoon, with pockets of 4"+ possible. As we move into Tuesday, a widespread blanket of 2-5", with pockets of 4-8" will overtake the Lake Michigan shoreline, eastern UP, and Keweenaw Peninsula. Temperature difference between water and air, plus adequate lift will fuel lake effect all the way through Wednesday morning. Additionally, we have a clipper moving through on Tuesday that will bring isolated pockets of 1-3" to the east side. Most locations should still be beneath an inch, however, too many variables are in play to not mention it. Travel will be impacted along and west of US-131, with minor travel impacts all the way over to the US-127 corridor (I-75 north of Grayling). The clipper will be swinging through with the initial push of gusty winds after midnight tonight through 10 am Tuesday morning. Again, this will be for totals starting at noon today, and lasting through 8 am EST Wednesday, with most of the snow falling throughout the entire day Tuesday. #miweather #keweenaw#westernup#marquette#munising #seney #newberry #soo#straitsarea#gaylord #cadillac #benzie#traversecity#petoskeyLake effect snow continues today, stops, then resumes in intensity overnight into Tuesday, January 26th and 27th, 2026.
