KEWEENAW PENINSULA UPDATE via Keweenaw Trail Reports – 02/08 WoW! Thank you for the beautiful photos Matt Protasiewicz! Mark and so many other riders have shared beautiful photos and reviews of the trails today! <> Literally the Lake Effect Snow making machine switch is stuck in the “on” position….. I’m not sure it’s ever going to stop! I’m not going to lie, it has been cold riding BUT so worth it with all the fresh snow! Thank goodness indoor dining has been resumed! Mark said, “175 Mike’s today. We took Trail 122 from Calumet which was getting pretty choppy. Then we met up with a Groomer Operator headed the other way and it was excellent afterward! Trail 124 from
Gay to Phoenix was freshly groomed this morning as well. Then we hit Trail 130 the Eagle’s 🦅 Loop, then 134 all the way to Copper Harbor. Lunch at The Mariner North
was excellent!! Then we took the same route back but added the 132 loop! Trail 124 and 122 were starting to get a bit choppy on the way back, but overall an AWESOME day of riding! Lots of fresh snow out there, especially the further up the Keweenaw. Trail 134 was our favorite today!”
Thank you so much for sharing the photos and review of trails Mark!
It looks like we have the entire week of bitterly cold temps ahead also, but come next week they will be more tolerable. The Keweenaw has been significantly “warmer” than a lot of other areas in the U.P. and northern Wisconsin. I included a photo from US National Weather Service Marquette Michigan
of the overnight temps also.
