Gaylord Area Trail Report – VisitGaylord.com – 12/16
Gaylord Bureau – 12/16
Well winter is here – in and around the Gaylord Area we have received about 12 to 16 inches of snow. We are under a “WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY” in effect from Midnight Thursday through Midnight Friday for Lake Effect snow. Possible 4 to 9 inches of new snow. Grooming is not being done at this time – need more snow. As always please check back here for updates.
I am surprised to see how fast the counter has been moving up and its darn close to 4 million. First person in with a picture of their counter at the 4 million mark gets one of my new Sledheads sweatshirts plus some other goodies and at the rate the counter has been moving it will probably be in the next few days.. So it was pretty slow around town here yesterday till after 3 and then riders started showing up. Also been slow this morning so far but far more sleds than yesterday at this time. Motels were empty but there were 2 riders with their sleds already fired up at the Ramada at about 7;30 this morning when I went thru there and they were the only ones at the Ramada. Grayling groomer was heading out today for the first time this season to start panning the trails. I think we had another 6 inches of new snow yesterday as I plowed everything here and then had to do it again today. Weather man JC says snow is done for a while now so its time to start up the snow chants again. Some real snow would be nice as all we have had so far is lake effect. I am already getting some good snow piles out there. Its a comfy 19 degrees out there and I wish I was out for my first ride. Thanks for checking in. Pete
FREDERIC - GAYLORD AREA UPDATE via Sledheads of Frederic , Michigan Snowmobiling >> It was a great start to the day in Frederic on tuesday morning. Wertz Warriors were in town at the Swamp for their annual stop and fund raiser for Special Olympics. Julie put out a great breakfast srpead for all of them as they were all getting to spend another day on the trail heading towards the Winter Special Olympics. They have as many people in support vehicles as they do riders. Always a great site to see. After they left at 9:30 I came back over to Sledheads to get ready to go ride to Lewiston and then 3 guys Scott, Jeff and Pat came in and said they were going to ride to the bridge. So much for Lewiston, Ten minutes later I had my closed sign up and we were on our way to the bridge. Stopped at Breakers in Topinabee for hot chocolate and then up thru Cheboygan to Maknaw City for lunch at the Keyhole and then off to Pellston and Alanson with a pit stop at Josh’s at Spankys. It was getting close to dark so we made our way thru back to Indian River. The guys had rented a motel in INdian River and I left them and back to Frederic. Another nice 170 mile day. Trails are the best they have been in years and they were flat like a table all day. It doesnt happen like that very often and this seems to be the year with no snirt sor far. I like that part too. All pics below are from yesterdays events and ride. It was a good ride with those 3 guys and I am glad they stopped in. They should be back here in Frederic later today as they parked their truck out back. It supposed to be minus 15 degrees tonight so button up. Thanks for checking in. Pete #gaylord#snowphotos...
