JORDAN VALLEY AREA UPDATE via Jordan Valley Trails Council >> 01/05 Thank you to Kalkaska County Sand and Snow – KCSAS and Rick for contacting us when they heard of our breakdown. Within 24 hours of breakdown and recovery we had a track from the blade of the KCSAS machine to the blade of our machine! Today the crew tackled putting the track on the machine and made quick work of it! Can’t thank our retired groomer/board member Doug for jumping into action to help out today! Mike, Phil, Doug, Benny, Rich, Pete and Tom were all hands on deck and we appreciate each of them and their efforts! The last 72 hours has been a great team effort by everyone that helped out. THANK YOU! We’re monitoring the weather this week and will take grooming day by day until the end of the week. Looks like Thursday/Friday will be our worse days with temps at or near 40, but the crews are in order to get everything groomed for the weekend after temps drop back down. Trails right now are the best they have been for this time of year in many years! Thank everyone for the kind words and support of our great volunteer’s and the hard work they have put in. Snow totals will be the highest yet again into the Keweenaw Peninsula. It's almost a carbon copy of today. Ice totals, however, are primarily a concern for the Upper Peninsula. Still alot to melt off here in Frederic, Piles were huge and so very rock hard its still gonna take them a while to melt down. The good thing about all the snow was that it spread the riders out all thru the state which made for a much safer season. Even with that there were still 12 deaths with only 4 in the lower and the rest in the u.p.
