Gaylord Area Trail Report – 12/06
Gaylord Bureau – December 3, 2025 The snow is here and trails are officially open for the season! Last weekend’s winter storm dropped a heaping helping of the white stuff on us. The trails near Lakes of the North are in good shape, trails near Johannesburg are in fair shape, and the south loop is in poor shape. Please note, due to the ice storm, there is a logging operation near Turtle Lake Road and Douglas Lake Road – the logging trucks are using the trail as a road. The trails are passable, but they’re in poor shape with dirt showing. Proceed with caution in these areas. Wondering what the trails look like? Check out the live view of trail #7 here. Saturday night through Monday: A late season winter storm has its sights set on the Great Lakes region. While uncertainty still exists with regards to specific snowfall/icing amounts and the location of where these highest amounts fall, potential continues to increase for parts of northern MI to see 12-24"+ of snow while others see impactful/heavy icing. Use caution when looking at detailed forecast amounts several days in advance.
